Yes, it's reasonably safe, although it's probably best if you don't mess with any of the other settings there - most are just ones in the WB control panel, but some are special debugging ones that you don't normally need. Keep a backup if you're really paranoid.

Often this happens when a) the download is corrupted, or b) the download gets deleted before you load it. To try and counterract these, use Save As... options to save a skin to a file, then load via the Skins panel Add button and download using the text download link rather than the skin image link (I've found it sometimes works better).

Norton Utilities are not skinned because they do things in a non-standard way which cause bad things to happen when skinned. Display Properties is (currently) unskinned to ensure you have a way out if a skin is so bad that it crashes every window you display - usually because of a buggy DLL. You can change this by adding SkinDisplay=1 to the [Global] section of wb.ini in your Windows directory.

I use PSP, pretty much nothing else. Usually, when I manage to get something that I think is cool, it takes a lot of work, with fiddly little changes to make it look smoother. Often I try things, and they don't work. Sometimes you just have to accept that and move on - you usually find an even cooler idea down the road. Just make sure you have plenty of undo levels (or layers . . .) Also, you *do* have to live with your work to make sure it's as good as it could be. If you use

Heh, sorry, didn't refresh the topic. If you have merely "registered" the shareware version, that just stops it bugging you. You have to uninstall the shareware version and install the registered version (you should have had a link sent to you in you registration email). Only then will scrollbars be skinned - the shareware version just doesn't contain the code to do it.

I don't want to update my skin to fix small things because of this - I'm worried it'll make me look like I'm "hogging" the new updates board. I would like an option to *not* place it in that section when I update a skin.

Yes, the XP file is just an extra UIS (or rather, INI) file, both for separation purposes and because it might be pushing the limit on file sizes for 9x-based computers if they were kept together. The WBD files are a "native" format of skin information - they're so WindowBlinds doesn't have to have read the UIS file every time it wants to start a program. And yes, they are annoying. Hopefully the "Reload current skin" systray option will be modified to wipe them. I think SkinStudio will

There doesn't appear to be a way to "upgrade" a WB skin to the WB-XP section. I think this is going to be something a lot of people are going to want to do when the new version of SkinStudio comes out, if not before.

See, that's where I have an advantage - there's very few GreenReaper's around . . . It *is* hard to be individual, though. After all, if you're one in a million, there's about 6000 of you. I guess all you can do is try and find an identifier that works for you and only you. Difficult.

Yes - but by chosing to use that address, you affirm it's validity as an indication of your personality. At least, that's the way I see it . . . *g*

I think what you might be looking for is here: https://www.stardock.com/products/directskin/ DirectSkin allows you to skin apps without having WindowBlinds installed.

Specifically for WindowBlinds skins - performance is highly dependant on the skin itself. UIS1+ skins are to be preferred, as they do not incur as great a performance penalty. You may find these on their own (see the UIS1+ section) or as optional sub-skins in a skin, often labelled "basic" or "light". A trial version of WindowBlinds is available, so it's worth getting it and trying a few skins. In general, the most popular skin authors are also the best and don't make mistakes that unne

What you need to do is have each of you login as separate users (on the first login, you have to take the option of remembering that new user's personal settings). WindowBlinds stores all of it's skin configuration in the current user section of the registry, so if you change the user, you change the settings, including which skin to load by default. If you're used to only having one "user" (even though more than one person uses the computer), have a look at the "Users" section of control panel.

Very much so. That's a GeForce 2 MX card, yes? I recommend you get the latest Detonator 4 drivers from NVIDIA if you haven't done so already - they have a significant effect on WB performance.

Airbus turns out over one plane every workday, has a $17.2 billion turnover and has taken much of the market from Boeing and other competitors by being more up-to-date and efficient airplanes. The US and Russia *both* attempted the goal of putting a man on the moon - and returning him. The US suceeded, and it was a great achievement - but in the end, the greatest gains came from the development in technology necessary to support the mission (computers, for example) rather than the actua
