I posted similar feedback about the clarity of the UI in my beta feedback post. I just wanted to second your thoughts in this post. On the flip side, it's nice to be talking about things like UI clarity. It says alot about the improved quality of this game when compared to the EWOM beta when many posts were about memory leaks, CTD, and bug reports.

@CdrRogdan, seanw3... The X's on the army size are indeed visible to my eyes, however, I do not believe they are explained anywhere other than the inference from the technology +1 army size (which I did NOT see, so thank you for that). The point of my feedback, which applies to this issue and many of the other points I made is that there is no NEED for it to be vague or implied. A tooltip would make this a nonissue. "Max army size 5, research blahblah to increase".<
edit: copied over into the beta forum from the general FE forum. Let's start with the feedback on FE b.75. The game is MUCH more fun and sound than EWOMv1.4. Archery isn't cheesy, magic is in the right ballpark, my choice of sovereign and race have GalCiv2-like meaningful impact on the playstyle, growing cities isn't an exercise in house micromanagement hell, the sovereign/champion/city levelup bonuses are EXCELLENT. The tutorial is in the r
Why is it, that when my city upgrades, I cannot see a summary of it's production? Furthermore, why can't I see what the LAST upgrades were? My workaround has been to add Tech/Arc/Gold to the end of every city name, but I'd be thrilled with a summary and upgrade history in the UI instead. Not that an empire of HillyTech, ChokepointArc, and ForestGold isn't thematic. It's just not the theme I'd prefer.
Transports (ships) cannot be disbanded, ever. Perhaps this was done to prevent issues with disbanding loaded transports (the code to kill the occupants first not implemented?). Also they move at 1/50th the animation rate of armies, making sea exploration unneccesarily painful. Also, the AI has no idea about the concept of sea exploration. Relating to this last bit... there should be some thought given to what would happen if two at war t
Same issues Soziele. If you start Elemental and then shift+tab at the "file won't download" screen, and use that menu to relogin what message do you get?
@ 3:53pm EST downloaded update dated 11/19/2010 ver 1.09n BETA, approx 14 MB give or take, selfextracted and selfapplied. When I attempt to start the game it dumps out to "Failed to download data file, Please be sure that you are connected to the internet, have logged into impulse and that no virus or firewall is blocking the application". Shift+Tab to impulse attempt to login. Login states "your impulse account does not have access to this title". Clearly this isn't true, sinc
I have followed Elemental from it's "not-Mom" days. Read Dev journals, played (crashing) beta after (crashing) beta. Played the immature (and also still crashing) release version. I have high hopes for it still. Clearly, as a community member, I have been too "yes man" in my love of Stardock as a company and Brad Wardell and the general concepts behind this game. As Beta Testers we should never have let our excitement for the game concepts color our appraisal of it's readiness for public rele
I'm have refreshed Impulse a billion times today, just like everyone else. I get it. However, These guys have been working crunch time for NOT just today but likely since the end of Beta 4 trying to make a shelf date that they had reserved many many moons ago. So here we are at 7pm Stardock local time on a Sunday night the weekend before release and folks are getting upset that they can't have their preorder for the 4 hours (or 12, or 36 hours, the number here isn't the relevan
Zamul said in reply 25: Now, I'm not saying that only building gardens is any fun, but by adding more kinds of improvements, and, like Frogboy mentioned in a Dev Journal, being able to merge improvements of similar types when putting them close to each other, there would be so many possibilities that worrying about gardens wouldn't really be an issue. Smart city planning would really become k
Thankfully, I should have mine downloaded by the time the ravenous hordes read this. [e digicons]B)[/e]
Yes, ironically, while I was posting my last post it became available for download. So, I guess we can conclusively answer the thread: Yes.
I hope that Beta 2 makes it's debut today (6/11/2010) to the beta playing testing public. While I have been tinkering about steadily on the cloth map, it will be nice to take a large step closer to seeing where Elemental is headed. Also, it's much easier to explain to people why I'm excited about the potential of this game when they aren't asking me if I'm excited about Pong being remade soon as well. (No offense cloth map onl
"We're staging a candidate now to test this evening (6/9/2010)." Internal testing, I assume? I don't see an update available on Impulse.
I have been quietly following Elemental since before it was Not-MoM. I'm not a big poster. Most of what needs to be said gets said ad nauseam without any need for input from me. However, I am going to wear out my Impulse icon if you don't release Beta 2 soon. So please, save an Icon. Release it already.
