wait all that is cut out of longhorn? wtf has MS been doing
Ka806
no he cant save it..... Itll sell like hotcakes though
And some of you guys who are on your soap box sitting there telling people they are stealing and they are evil seriously need to get off of it. The side that approve of filesharing are just as valid as you guys. They dont have a halo around their head, and neither do you. Its just that some people dont believe in the notion of Intellectual Property, In fact some countries dont believe in the concept of IP. Its not that difficult a concept to
Hey man, I'm with you in intent. Stopping or lessening wholesale piracy would be great. As would the destruction of the euphemistic "sharing" term which is of course stealing. I put food on my table based upon software sales too. But... Decisions for what or a person or company can be held liable for now depends upo
microsoft has a monopoly the government doesnt do anything case closed They dont really have to please anyone. What microsoft is really going to do with longhorn is create some new bs API and it will somehow become the new standard which is ultimately worse than whats already out, then use that to make it harder for everyone else.
Leave it to a study sponsered by microsoft to say that microsoft is more secure Of course linux can be made insecure.... but in most cases you have to work at it to make linux insecure, where as windows you have to work at it to make it more secure. Just looking at to layer issues and I easily make my decision. Compare root/ non root members in l
It is wise to wait until the product is released and you can evaluate what's really in there before speculating on what it may and may not have, including the obligatory sales pitch. I think its better to see what MS is actually saying about longhorn. I for one refuse to actually wait for MS to realea
You can always upgrade your desktop for the x86 proc. So if portability isnt required, and you really want a mac, then get yourself a snazzy G5 desktop. I doubt their first x86 models will out perform the PPC at the moment though. But if they do, and combatability turns out to be sucking, then u can always upgrade the mobo and proc...................wait can you. I really dont know now that I think about it..............ahh nevermind <img src="htt
Gentoo Documentation is some of the best documentation Ive seen for anything, let alone for anything so complex. Its nice how they clearly section off the code and just explain everything that you are doing.
i finally bought an ibook. I really just wanted the development enviornment. But one thing that apple deserves credit for is their design, creativity and the ability to expand your own creativity. One thing I dont like about is its lack of customizability, which can hamper some of that creativity. The design is purty though and I am please with it. I havent done any programming with the thing yet but Id like to. And it can play world of warcr
The words were created by man, but so was the code - perhaps the difference lies in the main purpose of the creation. The words (as in a poem) are primarily an expression of experience, meant for the inspiration and appreciation of others (art). The code is written primarily to be a tool to accomplish a task. Both could be done w
Yes...getting 'lazy'. In Australia, for example, you purchase rights to the PLAYING of the CD for personal enjoyment. You DO NOT purchase rights to any form of reproduction, copy, backup in any form or method or medium what-so-ever. There is NO 'fair use' allowance for making a copy on cassette, etc, nor has there EVER b

yeah that was expected. This new shell will come out in 3-5 years according to ms. Longhorn will come in 2 years max (i think). Chances are MS may even charge for MSH. Bash shell hasn't gotten a change in years. Mabey if MS comes a little bit close to it (mabey equal it or surpasse it!!!) , the linux developers will go into a frenzy and upgrade the shell to uterly destroy it. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Gasp
Yeah same here
note that this very same flaw exists in IE6 with XP SP2 (fully patched). try the secunia test. i don't know why this isn't being reported by everyone who reports that the flaw exists in firefox. Cause vulnerabilities is nothing new for Internet Explorer. If they reported this flaw for IE, IT professiona
Let me spell this out to you since you can't buy a clue. Without SP2 my system boots up in about a minute. With SP2 it boots up in about a minute and a half to 2 minutes. Without SP2 my application launch as they should - about 20 seconds after I choose them from the start menu - under heavy load on the memory.
I believe Antivir and Trend Micro scan the MBR - it's fine. I never said SP2 dosen't work on my system - it just slows it down. Even if I'm using a new Hard Drive with a fresh install of XP pro +drivers and nothing else installed. And yes I have plenty of memory - 512 - to play with. I'm very careful in my attempt to ste
None of those scanners check the MBR for any problems just the harddrive. If everything your saying is true, Id say a virus did get in there and altered some of your settings. But thats my diagnosis from looking outside in. I know my nforce chipset works perfect with SP2 and yours dont though. So you have a problem and it needs to be fixed. Mabey usi
It looks like all microsoft is doing is creating their own scripting language and it will run on this new shell. Does anyone know if MS will do something smart like make windows based off of the shell again. Cause if its the same as it is in XP, then it wont be anywhere near as good as bash
I have an Nforce chipset and SP2 and no such problems. I tried googling up on the issue and I cant find anything. Can you tell me where you read that.
The whole reason I "popped up" about Firefox not being secure is because I'm sick of the Firefox fanboys and zealots saying how secure it is when in fact Firefox has security problems as well. Do you think its not secure? The zealous say its secure for a reason. In fact, there are many people saying its
Got some news for you Vasgo, Internet Explorer can have tabs now with a toolbar from MSN. Also, you can have mouse gestures for your whole computer with a program called StrokeIt. You can have simple mouse gestures for your computer and can actually control Internet Explorer with it (although not exactly 100%). They may be third-
Ka806 - I have no data miners on my system thank you. Not only do I use ad-aware but I also use MS Anti-Spyware, Spybot, Spywareblaster, Spywareguard, and sometimes Hijack this. I've been using and fixing PC's for awhile now - years - I'm no noob. I will not install SP2 due to the fact that SP2 has a weird affect on
