I used to play the Guild 2 with a mod called ' Sovereign Edition ' or 'Back to the Roots' which was excellent and cleaned up a lot of the bugs and improved gameplay. It is such a unique game that really offers a LOT of things to do. I haven't heard of Renaissance before, what are some of the new features? Is it an expansion or a mod? Maybe I'll get back into The Guild.

I'd definitely enjoy playing a good sim game, especially a good fantasy geo-political simulation.
Updated with some more skins which are now implemented into the game WITHOUT any core modifications. I'm trying to avoid touching those as much as possible. Added Kalamona Deadeye's mod too. Thanks! Heroes: I'd
LOL, I bet making armor for him is EXPENSIVE!
Nice work, those look great! I think I'll update the skinpack later tonight. Also, MagicwillNZ , if you want to upload your tatoo'ed skins, I can add it to the skinpack mod. <
To Create a Custom Faction: First, go to "C:\??\Elemental\data\English" and look up the "CoreRaceConfigs.XML" file for reference. Create a NEW .XML file under "C:\Users\??\Documents\My Games\Elemental\Race". Basically copy the CoreData of ONE faction and modify it. Good luck!
Yeah, the brigands kinda comes fast at you in large numbers during NORMAL difficulty. I was totally left unprepaired. I lost my secondary city and need to build an army FAST! UPDATE : Early in my newest game I left my city for ONE TURN and was ONE SPACE away. A bandit party with HUGE attack values came out and destroyed it right before my eyes. It was aweful... :( <img style="border: 2px solid black;" src="http://a.imageshack.us/img210/21
Just to let everyone know. You can do A LOT with all the resources we have now. I've successfully made a .XML file with a HANDFUL of custom heroes in it, they show up ingame, and they function properly. I've also created my own custom faction . I'm kinda documenting things here , if you are interested. I'm gonna play around with custom buildings later. Awesome! I love
Champion/Hero Modding Guide By Folcik009 Overview: I love making custom characters in these games, it's probably the main thing I've wanted to do in Elemental especially given all the options I'm uncovering. Eventual
city improvements too It's all in the XMLs. Once you have your tile, just find the file that lists city improvements and work with that to add your tile to the list. I didn't realise you were turning of tactical battles again for this beta or am I experiencing a bug? It's not really a "bug", but they forgot to include some files (including tactical battle maps) in the distribution hence why no battles yet. They're
Looks good. Are you guys going to cover how to create heroes/champions, items, and city improvements too? Thanks. EDIT: Factions too, good point, BlackRainZ. So far I created some sort of a religious monument to use as a city improvement. Can't wait to continue.
25%. GO FASTER! Don't fail me now router!
Thats not fair .. my internet modem has vanished and I have to hope that it will be replaced tommorrow Currently I have only analog-modem speed (via my cell phone) .. have to wait for the long weekend
Improvise. Go to library or friends house and download. Libraries are great for that kind of stuff. No one should have to wait.
Yeah, there is just no way I could finish a multiplayer game in one sitting.
The most interesting man in the world , I just visited your website. Good stuff! EDIT: Totally out of context response now that he is on the other page. So, yes, I agree with everything said here. Now I have contributed.
If we're going to expand the tile sizes of some of the buildings we need more tiles. I had a nice city last night that hit the 40 limit because I had two farms in it. However, I agree with you but we should rename the barracks to armory and have a separate building for the barracks. That could also give us a bonus to unit training.
I was under every impression that they were going to re-implement the faction creation system in either a future beta or at release along with all the other modding tools. It'd kinda suck if they didn't.
I'm not scared at all. I'm having to force myself not to play it right now so I can get other things done. Also, in time the graphics will improve. My question is how are custom champions/heroes implemented ? I'm kinda hoping there will be a folder with all the hero .XML files or something in it we can just throw more people into. I'd like to make many new heroes, can I get started in beta 4?
THAT'S FREAKY! I hope I never see them invade my Kingdom.
Elemental Character Mods [Version 0.3] Created by Folcik009 Beta 4 has opened MANY new possibilities. Today I've created many modified skintones to use for ingame characters, included darker roads, and implemented <a id="ctl00__Content__RepeaterReplies_ctl02__LinkUser" class="hand" title="Click user name to view more options.
I... I've never seen a river. Are there any screenshots that exist of such a thing?
I think espionage will appear in an expansion, like in GalCiv2.
Yeah, I'm hoping they implement spies like in the final version of GalCiv2 or even Civilization 4.
Agreed. I'm sure the questing mechanic will be revised in future releases. It seems pretty unfinished at this point. EDIT: I kinda like the Inn lights on/off idea for active quests. Maybe they could regenerate regular quests too. Could also use 'em as a spawning ground for new champions/heroes.
Yeah, I am regarding "culture" as the border expansion. The monument would be more like a GalCiv II "Cultural Center" planetary improvement rather then an "Influence Starbase". I'm thinking more along the lines of the Civilization 4 mechanic here. I also wouldn't mind seeing prestige reworked a little. Maybe just have a "Growth" factor that is dependent on food and whatever the current Prestige is or something. I think with more food should result in more growth.
I kinda like the way champions wander and actually do things in the world. However, I do agree that it can be a pain to ketch them or keep them alive. Also, perhaps the Inn should attract them to rest inside for a while and generate some Gildar per turn. Things I'd like to see Champions do: Champions should be replenished when killed (create a new one). Champions should sometimes
