Seems that as a side effect of upgrading WB (as in the latest one released today), is that it replaces the backgrounds.uis file, tanking any changes we might have made. Just for info :)
Aleatoric
Would be nice if the explorer backgrounds tab had the 'create', 'edit', etc. options also. ;)
There's a file in the Vista Images folder called backgrounds.uis. You have to add an entry in that file for the new image in the Textures folder. Typical entry looks like: [30] Image = Vista Images\Textures\Shallow Stream.TGA Name = "Shallow Stream
Sounds like a good plan. Looking forward to it! [e digicons][/e]
Cool :D
Very cool! Contrats! :CONGRAT:
Oh my, Jason. Did a bit of criticism of Stardock make your brain hurt? I've been a member of this site at least twice as long as you have, and additionally, have been an Object Desktop subscriber since 2001, and have no immediate intention of not subscribing for the forseeable future. As long as I'm a member of this community, I'm going to feel perfectly free to provide what I believe to be legitimate criticism of the practices that I disagree with. Stardock is e
and much of our sofware (and games) works fine on Win7
But that's my exact point. All (or at least most) of the skins in the subscriber theme would work, if it wasn't wrapped in MyColors. I really don't see why it can't also be provided as a theme. I don't have any problem waiting for this stuff to come out in it's own time, that's the nature of the product. It just seems lame to me that something that would work fine is wrapped in something that doesn't w
Hi Tim, No disrespect intended for your efforts, I've always been a huge fan of your work (as a matter of fact, my current theme is 'Slow Burn', recolored in blue :) ). My argument is for Stardock. I generally really like their products (or I wouldn't be here at all), but they can be amazingly inconsistent at times, especially when it comes to their non-game efforts. At this time, they're trumpeting a new subscriber suite, but they don't release that s
BTW, Tim, Happy Birthday, you whippersnapper! :) The skin looks cool, too bad I can't actually use it right now.
It's pretty sad that we have to install 'MyColors' to use this theme. It's even more sad when, trying to install 'MyColors' on Windows 7, we get the message, 'this program is not compatible with your operating system'. Wanna make up your mind one way or the other? Either give us a .theme file that we can use directly, or fix 'MyColors' so that it works on Win 7. Is that so hard?
Did a double check on my other PC (Vista Ultimate 64bit). Explorer backgrounds work correctly, but don't display correctly in the preview. It shows the texture opaquely, and inversely colored, whereas the Win7 experience is a correct preview, but no explorer background. Just in case that helps.
Here's my system info from WB (win7 rc1 64 bit). I have the RTM, but it isn't installed yet. Thanks! Also, if it matters, it shows up correctly in the preview window Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 3.9 Your Windows Graphics Experience score is 3.9 WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC WindowBlinds
Quite nice. Textures are very cool :HOT: Also reporting that, for me also, explorer backgrounds aren't working in win7.
Any change of getting three-monitor support? Whenever I use a Dream, it's only displaying on two of the three monitors.
According to Neil's reponse to me in another deskscapes thread, Deskscapes only works on one graphics card, so anything connected to a second card is out of luck, at least currently :) I have the same issue on my setup, 4 monitors, only two get a dream (the others are just black).
Ah. That picture isn't my next master skin after all...
Ah well, I liked the one in your original post better, but they're both good :) Is the other one going to come out at some point? Looking forward to pretty much anything you create, though :)
To paraphrase a programmers idiom: Person 1: "We have a problem!". Person 2: "I know! We'll get government to fix it!". Well, now you have two problems. You may infer from my idiom that I am opposed to government controlled health care (or government controlled prety much anything). You would be right. All you get when you ask government to fix a problem is the original problem, with the government superglued to it. The problem stil
Nah, the issue I have is that I have 4 monitors (two cards) :) Based on what Neil says, the program won't work on more than one card. Even doing what you mention, the background on the second card always shows nothing (black screen; Deskscapes appears to be entirely unaware of the other card, apart from blanking the background).
Deskscapes is designed to handle a single graphics card and so supports upto the number of displays that the one card exposes. Typically this would be two. Supporting additional physical cards would double the cpu usage for video dreams. Making it display the wallpaper may be possible.
Cool. What about dynamic dreams? Could they be handled so that they show up on more than two monitors? So, if there were a more or less modern version of the old
It would be nice if Deskscapes would work, at least reasonably well, with more than two monitors (I don't care if each monitor is a copy of the first, but it should display the deskscape on every monitor, even if there are 100 of them). Working with this beta, I don't have any issue (apart from the multiple monitor issue) with my Windows7 laptop or my Vista desktop (both 64 bit). If you can't manage to make Deskscapes work on more than two monitors, you could, at least, tweak it up so tha
I like the new interface, very nice. One thing I've noticed in the WB7 betas is that the explorer background options are missing. Maybe this isn't an option for windows 7 (or just not handled yet), but why is it gone for Vista, where it worked before? Just curious :)
A cool thing I've found is that, with Windows 7, the command window is skinned again :) Overall, a very nice upgrade, hope the odds and ends get put back in as it goes along.
Synergy only supports copy and paste for TEXT, like urls, etc. Multiplicity Pro supports copy and paste for text and FILES...a tremendous difference.
Yep, you'll have noticed that I made that same distinction :) I haven't tried using them both at the same time, that might be worth a shot, but it still seems a bit of stretch to have to do that, when it was one of the original stated goals of multiplicity to support other OS's (and I can't imagine that the Stardock programm
I like the idea of multiplicity, but since I have other systems that don't run windows, it's pretty much useless to me. Synergy, despite not being updated for a while, works pretty well, and contrary to an above post, it *does* support copy and paste between systems (it's not perfect, though). It doesn't do copy files between systems, however, but I can copy files from system to system easily enough, so multiplicity's file copy isn't a real plus, considering it's lack of systems supported.
Okay, that's horrible. Someone's been spending too much time on Fark. X-( If Rick Astley shows up anywhere near a WindowBlinds 7 install, I'm buying a Mac.
Apart from the particular issues I seem to be having with MC (and I did get the Aquamarine skin, installed and applied it with MC, which worked until a reboot, then I had to uninstall and reinstall WB to get *any* skin to work, even Aquamarine), why can't we be given the option in the MC app to download the theme, in addition to applying it? I don't see how this would be a major problem for a company as skilled as Stardock, and it provides a useful option for advanced users. Can't imagine why th
