In the ship creation screen, add a Structure piece to a ship. Now remove the structure piece. The structure piece disappears, but the red dots that were attached to the structure piece float around in the ship model view for awhile.

On the ship design screen, this is a repeatable CTD bug: 1) Create a new ship design 2) Choose the first Tiny model (note: I am using Human ship set, but that probably doesn't matter) 3) Choose any of the structure pieces, but do not click on the "red dot" mount points on the ship model, instead, click on an empty component slot on the right-hand window result: Crash To Desktop - Proud Canadian
Hey BoogieBac, I looked at some other posts on here and found a link to www.omegadrivers.net, which had some enhanced drivers for Radeon cards. Installing those has got me past the CTD and Bluescreen/reboot. However... Going forward, I'm sure you guys don't want to tell customers they have to install non-standard video drivers in order to play your game. Hopefully you can get your hands on a Mobility Radeon with the standard drivers and try to reprod
I just got the GalCiv2 beta. Here's what happens on my laptop: 1) Start the GalCiv2 application 2) Choose New Game option 3) Choose some galaxy options 4) Choose any race 5) Start the game The "Loading..." thing appears for awhile, then I get a dark grey screen, followed by "an unexpected error has occurred in your application" popup. When I click the OK button, it goes to a bluescreen for a second, then the computer reboots. On the bluescreen
Proud Canadian here. Still playing Altarian Prophecy while I'm on the road, but looking forward to GalCiv 2. I think beta testing GalCiv 2 will be more fun than the QA testing I have to do at work! PC
lCiv 2 is exactly because it is a game that runs on low-end hardware and is still fun.
I don't really care either way about wormholes. My opinion: If they would complicate the AI in any significant way, don't bother.
minor bug: The cutscene for "Capital Ships - Warfare will never be the same..." comes up when the humans build their first Battleship, not their first capital ship. I built Death Knights first and didn't get the cutscene until my first Battleship was finished. ~SDC~
I really liked this feature in base GC. There really isn't much point to investing in espionage to get Advanced if the trade routes are gone. The only other info in the enemy stats that I used right now are current spending and current tech being researched.
I feel funny quoting myself, but I think I should take back this comment. In my recent games, I have been able to occasionally steal techs from the AI once I get to a high espionage level. I guess spying does have its
M002 still available anyway ?
I've seen it recently (I was surprised) at EB Games for about $10-$15. It still has the original box design, but now with an Atari logo on it (the a**holes who published MOO3). If Atari haven't messed with the original MOO2, it should be just fine. :) ~SDC~
I think if you download Stardock Central (I put the link above) you just need your serial number and email address (even if it is your old email). Stardock Central should do all the downloading and patching. When I first got the game I tried downloading just the game (without SDC) but it was easier to keep it up to date with SDC doing the work.
I hate MOO3. I bought it the week it was released at full price, even though it got bad reviews. I loved MOO and MOO2 and bought it because of the name. MOO3 was by far the most buggy and confusing piece of sh*t game I have ever played. A complete disappointment. Did that sound bitter? I AM! >:( PS: elmo3 is right about putting it in the trash. The ugly CD doesn't even make a decent coaster for drinks.
Below is a cut-and-paste of part of my order confirmation from when I bought GC/AP. I would recommend that you download Stardock Central first. Once you have that installed, input your serial number and let Stardock Central download, install, and patch your game to the latest version. PC (NOTE: The second link that says Download2 is the Stardock Central installer download. That may be the only one you need.) If you need to download the latest enhanced version or get
Ok, the website shows them all for me. Its too bad. I liked using SDC to view them.
Has this fanclub been discontinued?
The in-game info says that it boosts various military attributes. However, after I build a bunch of mining modules onto my starbase to maximize this, I don't see any change in the Attack/Defense/HP stats of my ships. My question: What exactly DOES the Military resource do for you? (I do see the benefits of the other resource types come into effect, its just the Military one that is confusing to me) PC ~SDC~
Does anyone know what the specific benefits are to stacking ships into a fleet? And yes, I know that it makes it easier to move them around on the map! ;p ~SDC~
I have noticed that there are MUCH fewer discussion threads on here than when I first joined. Have the moderators deleted some of them? GC Strategies, for instance, only has 2 threads now?!? Is this a problem with my reader? I read the boards via the Stardock Central client. Some of the threads are very old (ones in GC Mods for instance) so I know its not an age thing. Am I the only one with this problem? PC ~SDC~
I did buy GC at a lower price retail but after I saw what I got for my money I did feel almost like I had "stolen" it in a sense after I discovered the support and this community. Then, at the same time I was smacked with what a bad software company does when I bought MOO3 where support requests are met with silence. That just showed me even more how good we have it here with Stardock.
I fall into this category too. I was looking for GC in stores for several weeks after r
Yes spending is forced to 0% if you are in debt by more than 500. You will also get the No Resource warning if: a) You put the Military or Social spending slider to 0% b) You put the Military or Social spending slider VERY LOW on a small planet (so that it doesn't even yield 1 production point in that category at that spending level) c) You put your Spending slider so low that some (or all) planets don't even yield 1 production point in Military and/or Social PC <B
I paid for the AP upgrade only (I think it cost $20) from the StarDock site. I think it was money well spent. ~SDC~
Demons and Angels do not exist in the real world. Its a fantasy game so it seems like a good fit. If Demons are scary for kids, wouldn't Vampires and Skeletons be scary too? Personally, I'm kind of scared of pit bulls and religious nuts who own guns. ~SDC~
BUG REPORT (AP 1.52): In the save game window, if you select an existing saved game, change the name and then save, it will ask you if you want to overwrite the existing file. Say yes. It will actually save a new game (with the new name) and does not overwrite the existing file. PC ~SDC~
SMALL ENHANCEMENT REQUEST: In the late game, there are a TON of messages in the box on the lower-right corner for completed production items. It would be nice if there was either: a) A button to clear them all without clicking on them b) An options on the options screen to supress all completed production messages PC ~SDC~
