Ok I did some more experimenting, here's what I have seen so far. Fresh Campaign starts at 100-200 fps. The moment I build the first town I drop to 14-25fps. If I am zoomed out far enough that none of the villagers show in the towns, my GPU has 0% load. If I zoom into the point where I can see villagers, my GPU has 25% load, zoom back out back to 0%. FPS does not change, remains 14-25fps. If I zoom out to cloth map, my GPU load goes to 40% and my

I don't see that article as overly harsh in any way at all. Most of what he said is true. No matter what kind of spin is put on it, Elemental is far from a "finished" game. It seems rather obvious that it was rushed out to beat Civ 5 release date. In doing so it has many glaring issues, I still cannot play the game on a top of the line machine with more than 20fps. It doesn't even seem to be using my graphics card at all. I also have numerous crashes and er
We have a larger thread going on here related to this exact topic, come add your info to it if you like. https://forums.elementalgame.com/391334/page/6/#2730343
Just checked as well, Elemental doesn't get a performance boost when I switched my Intel 2.8GHz QC to single affinity, nor is it using my ATI 5800 2GB graphics card at all. While Elemental is running, ATI Control Center reports 0% GPU activity.
1.05 patch, still having framerate issues. Was at 50fps, then the second I built the first town of the campaign, 25fps. My PC has no issues with any other game currently out, AoC at max, SC2 at max, my hardware is definitely not the problem. There is a serious issue going on in Elemental Just tested, I get the exact same fps with max details as I do with min details. If I am viewing normal terrain my fps is 50-100, but the second I even get near
I am really enjoying the tile editor. Since I cannot play the game due to framerate issues, I have been spending most my time designing tiles. I hope that it is easy to link these tiles into the game so that they will randomly appear in-game as Goodie huts and whanot. <embed type="applic
Yup same thing for me, all other aspects of the game work fine...except for..well the actual game.
That will be changed in today's patch I believe. The camera will only auto follow if the target is not currently on screen. I think.
Yeah a bit more explanation would be helpful. I am able to create the tiles just fine. To make them appear in any game I play, do I need to insert this section of code and customize it for each new tile I create? Will inserting this code make it so that the tile has a chance to appear as a goodie hut in each game I play, or do I have to manually create a map and insert it by hand? Thanks for any help.
Updating my drivers did not fix the issue. http://pastebin.ca/1923775
I had this happen as well, but only once or twice. Returning to the overworld map fixed the issue.
Yeah, I ran out of memory a while ago too. 2.8Ghz Quah Core i7 4GB RAM 5800 ATI 2GB Between the horrible framerates and the Out of Memory error, I think I will stop even trying to play and just start hoping for a fix.
I have now been forced to play in cloth map mode, as it is the only way to get acceptable frames, though at times, the cloth map mode can get sluggish too. Also, in tactical battle I usually get about 80fps, but a bit ago one of my battles had me down to 16fps, with nothing going on special effects wise.
I have constant framerate issues, degrading performance, and just now and Out of Memory crash on turn 322.
Yes yes yes, the auto-zooming causes you to miss more of the action and results. Kill it with fire please, or at least let it be an on/off option.
Hard to tell I imagine. MY PC, which will run most modern games at max details, struggles to get 14 frames per second in Elemental currently. At the same time, others who have far less powerful machines, say they run it just fine. So who knows.
Agrred, it makes leveling up your stats a bit of a pain.
AA has no impact on my performance at all. I have tried all different levels of detail but the problem persists. Over the course of 30min I went from 200ish fps when I first started to a low of 14 while looking at a town.
Same thing here. Win 7 64 4GB RAM i7 Quad Core 2.8GHz ATI 5800 2GB Graphics Card I am running at 1680x1050, both fullscreen and windowed have the same issues. AA 2x 1024x512 Map Texture Default MipMap High Res Shadows Overgrown 10x Proportional When I first start playing I am getting 200-300 fps. Then as soon as I build my 1st town, it isn't
Crap :( Wish this would have been posted sooner. I just bought it on Steam, but would soooooo rather have suppoerted Impulse and Stardock. I feel like a traitor now :(
