It's so depressing to hear fans that are upset about a a team that hasn't won in 86 years. Or longer. At least they've won once. I just keep rooting for my Padres. We'll win it someday!

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is my personal favorite of Heinlein's books. I like it better than Stranger in a Strange Land. I haven't gotten around to reading Starship Troopers yet, but I plan to soon.

Yeah, I got the National Merit Scholarship too. But unfortunately, it only helps you if you go to a school that cares. So that means all I got was a title.

For those of you who are wondering about the logic behind the verse that says "God so loved.....but have everlasting life", I can tell you that no, there is no loophole. Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father but through me."

It seems that I am tied for the biggest slacker with cinnamonbl0pops. In fact, I've got about 5 physics assignments and some reading for detective fiction to do. Haven't even started any fo them, even though I've known abou them since wednesday. Oh well. Good thing I do well on tests.

The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexander Dumas. A truly amazing story. It's pretty long, but worth it. It is my favorite book of all time. Le Morte D'Arthur, by Sir Thomas Malory. The original compilation of the legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Great stories, but a very difficult read. I've only manage to get to page 750 out of 1100. 2001: A Space Odyssey, by Arthur C. Clarke. Even better than the movie, although the mo

You assume that a car will need major maintenance after 150,000 miles. However, in my experience, Honda's last much longer than that. My mom's car lasted until it had 230,000 miles before it needed major work, and after that, last until it had 260,000 before it died. if you add in even an extra 50,000 miles for the expected life of the cars, that would put the hybrid at a lower cost. Plus, a hybrid engine will most likely show less wear after time due

My American history teacher during my junior year of high school required everyone in our class to pass the citizenship test in order to pass the class. Almost everyone passed the first time. It's really not that hard; although I agree that most of the population would not pass.

Shozan, I never said the draft would be reinstated. It most likely won't be. The reason it was started was because there was a massive need for soldiers that volunteers could not hope to fill. Most likely that will never happen again. But it could. All 18 year old males are still required to register for the selective service. I have serious issues with anyone claiming that an 18 year old in the military should be allowed to vote while I, an

Raising the voting age to 25 would cause a lot of people to be angry. Especially those 18-25 years olds who could be sent to war involuntarily if the draft was reinstated but who could not vote for who was given the power to do such a thing. That is the reason the voting age was lowered to 18 in the first place.

Here are some reasons not to vote for bush: 1) He has spent an incredible amount of money. On everything. While cutting taxes. you can cut taxes or you can spend money. but you cannot do both. 2) he does not care about the environment. he may not have done anything that is terribly bad for the environment. i don't really know. but you can't argue that other candidates would do more for the environment, simply because they care more.<b

Muggaz, you're right, our baseball team composed of college students did not qualify for the olympics. That's because our best players are in the middle fo their professional season. Also, look at the actual total of medals. The us earned 103. I'd hardly call that being in decline. In fact, compared to the two countries immediately below us in medal totals, we did incredibly well on a per capita basis. I'm not trying to diminish what Australia did. You

I work for a large company. I design control systems for cryofracture plants. What is a cryofracture plant you say? Well, it is a large plant that is meant to dispose of old ammunition without it exploding. For example, the current plant I am working on is meant to destroy what were thought to be inert explosives. Well, someone almost blew their hand off with one duri

One commonly brought up "problem" with Christianity is the fact that we Christians believe that there is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus Christ. Non-Christians call this intolerance. I have a problem with that. I am extremely tolerant of others' views. I just believe they are wrong. In order for tolerance to exist, there has to be some disagreement. If I agreed, it would not be tolerance, it would be acceptence. Secondly, in order for

This is actually prevalent in other competitions as well. Many of my friends play poker both with friends and online. Many times they will lose money to players who profess to hardly having played at all. This is because the new players make moves that no skilled player would ever consider, thus making them very unpredictable. Of course after a time, the more skilled player will figure out the novices moves and take advantage of them, most of the time
