He has joked about a co-worker's wife's miscarriage among other things. I think he's a crappy person. Sarah Palin is coming to Ft Hood in early Dec. I am tempted to meet her just for yucks.

I don't throw away money on the lottery. ;) I have started couponing and more aggressively bargain shopping. I was looking over receipts today and I have saved over 400 bucks this month with coupons and discounts. We scaled back on Christmas. DH and I are not getting anything for each other until after Christmas so we can shop sales. We are spending under $400 on the kids, total. We only have a couple more things to get and they are included in that

I always check in with JU every so often to read your posts. Great story as usual. I'm going to have Adrian read this one!
I think I remember reading somewhere that from an evolutionary standpoint when A gives something to B, A is showing superiority to B in that A is better off than B and B therefore submits to A (often times an alpha male will be charitable to the others in the pack). This can all be done subconsciously of course, but that could be why the receiver might show disdain for the giver, because of the acknowledgement that A seems to be 'superior'.
Richard Dawkins.

Um, I was talking about your stupid joke not the bible story. KFC, I think you should be ashamed of yourself for propagating such bigotry and ugliness. It is entirely unChristlike and unbecoming of you. I think you have answered my question as to which you are first and foremost. And the answer isn't Christian.

How was it not a joke? It's a true account? Of a guy who looks in the mirror but fails to see that he has only one hand until he goes to hang up a phone? Which are you first and foremost, KFC, a Christian or a Republican? RW, at least I would expect this kind of thing from you. KFC claims to be a Christian, though.

"there are things worse than those" -- is pretty much what I'm getting at. The idea that these are negative, wouldn't wish it on myself attributes. Heh, I recall the OT punishment for making fun of the bald.

No. They equate those things as being as bad as having a fatal disease or being a drug addict. The Democrat thing is supposed to make it funny, but at the heart of it, the joke is listing those attributes as being the worst possible. Like I said, I think you are being too generous.

He was in a plane accident the day before. Hit in the head by something. Said he didn't feel well before he went to bed that night. He was a d-bag but a loveable d-bag. We watched Pitchmen regularly.

Let me explain this to you: The joke equates these things with being horrible and undesirable: - Being black - Being gay - Being disabled - Being Jewish - Being in a relationship with a Mexican (or maybe it's just the fact that it's a mixed race relationship?) In fact, those attributes are on par with having a fatal disease, being a drug addict. or being abandoned by your family. And F

I didn't say anything about blacks. I also didn't call you racist. I think the joke is a) not spectacularly funny and b) filled with bigotry. It's not something I suspect Christ would tell. Or do you think he would? Being Christian is a choice. Ethnicity or race is not. Of course, the race thing wasn't the only tasteless aspect. The joke just seems crass coming from you.

I think you're being too generous about how funny the joke is and how well it works. I'm not offended, just surprised KFC would find this worthy of sharing. It's not high brow racism or anything. Run of the mill. I don't take the racism in the joke as "tongue-in-cheek". It seems pretty straight-forward to me.

So, it's thanking God for being disadvantaged by being born male? (I was aware of the other parts)

46 Replies 89,692 Views

No you're right. This joke was both hilarious and completely in character for you. Don't male Jews have a prayer thanking God for not making them female? I think this joke would appeal to them. Heh.
