A Kats Eye View, Part 6 Interpretation provided by Che-Rene Straykat, Kat Lady @ Large Mate to Suralle Primary Keeper of the Faith The lighting in the room was somewhat subdued, the seats barely comfortable. The felines present all were the top military aides and commanders of Kat Fleet Two, and all were looking somewhat expectantly down towards a small stage and waiting patiently for their commanders to make their appearance and start the briefing for the c

Winning on tough and slightly above: (A Kats Guide) 1) Relationships - To win on tough and above, you need to have a good relationship with the folks who are stronger than you military wise, at least high enough like neutral or warm to avoid war. The lower their relationship to you, the easier it is for them to say the heck with your puny civilization or the easier for them to be bribed to do the same thing. Trade as in freighter, trade as in techs, giving money even, all help toward ma
Setup option, allows you to select habitability of the planets, in that they can be rare to abundant, combine that with the amount of planets and you can easily see why on the gigantic universe when you select abudnant on everything, you could easily end up with just about 5000 star systems that could all support life. Not sure if this is what your exactly asking for, but I know that there is where I set up the amounts (in general) of working I am going to have to do in managing my soon to be
YEP! a lser on a fighter should NOT do the same damage as a laser on a Dreadnaught; especially since the laser on the Dreanaught is waaaaaaay larger. Politely, I disagree, who is to say I did not take the same laser off the fighter and simply put it with all of its power and targeting systems on the dreadnaught? How would that make it larger,
The reason I think miniaturization is working as intended is to keep ships (ie players and the AI) from having 1000's of points of damage and 100's of points of defense potential. Why? Well the reason that springs to my mind is the damage calculator may not be set to handle the massive calculations needed for ships that can crank out damages from 3 different weapons combinations which could give a minimum of 7 different calculations needed to be looked at even with the most basic research in t
Frankly, thats whats been bothering me since late last year with miniaturization. Lets extend the common thought here. The last two techs of mini we're not going to research because basically your getting screwed. Apply that to defenses... than to weapons... Difference about twice the damage... twice the defense... Why isn't mini twice the smaller? The system is working as intended. Which imo bytes. W/R Suralle Straykat Kat Lord
The stargate were not instantaneous. Sometimes taking weeks to get from place to place. No point in having them around anymore when a ship can get there faster with hyperdrive. W/R SUralle Straykat Kat Lord @ Large
I believe I read that random intelligence actually only raises or lowers the current difficulty setting IQ by 10 points. At tough/painful/crippling/ levels though that could be a huge factor on what the AI is able to do, as pointed out by a Draginol/Frogboy post about two months back when he was posting testing reports. I Personally use Starbases for Defense purposes only. Conquering the planets between me and said enemy works better, as you get a starport right next to the enemy. Rapid Deployment = Rapid Victory Which needs to be addressed in politics and diplomacy add ons I think. I too use this theory and practice quite extensively, and have to wonder, wh
It's only a game... Bah, humbah. As to the gap, yeah its a big one. I usually adjust controls though in the startup. Instead of tight I use loose star systems. Than just to really confuse things, about once a week I put everything on random that can be. Just so that I can get that... "uh-oh" feeling. W/R Suralle S
I have a pretty easy time running the game normally with my geforce 5200 fx card. However, the scenes from the combat viewer are quite a bit choppy, having showed the Lady Che-Rene the problem she has determined that its more ram related on my end, not video. Personally though, I think I need to upgrade both. Zobo, guess you have to look at the overall fun and overall want, base it on overall budget. You need an updated video card for the routines, I think your amount of ram is fin
I would be very much like to know what the CPU-Intensive Algorithms do though? Don't quote me on this but I believe the CPU intensive routines are the AI actually trying to perform more like a player instead of an AI by checking locations of the players ships, responding to mass build ups better along their influence borders. Hopefully buildi
A Kats Eye View, Part 5 Interpretation provided by Che-Rene Straykat, Kat Lady @ Large Mate to Suralle Primary Keeper of the Faith The loading of PDF Kat Land was proceeding as well as could be expected under short notice. Some of the Pryde were a bit resistant about climbing inside the aluminum spheres, and frankly as Reba Ah-Stare, Commander of the Pernicious Colony Action Group, watched the launch of the latest group in line from terminal 3 she could see
Maybe I am off the beaten path here, and I beg forgiveness ahead of time, but; Tradewars was the game that got me hooked on computer games. Had to play online at local BBSs one user at a time. If you didn't have a great strategy and maps, you were definitely going to get the provervial thumb screws at some point or another by another trader. I still have alot of extras over the years for that game and sometimes, just sometimes, I will play someplace now adays on places li
I was going to bypass this post, but I have to agree. The Pryde are supposed to be neutral in the big scheme of things, as far as everyone else knows. However, they are not a democracy and have a tendancy to think about whats good for the race before the individual. The have castes which put family heritage and jobs over individual wants (mostly, although any given individual who is hot and I mean blazing hot ie: Spec 2 De-Vero in ongoing story can get promoted from their caste to t
I am, however, surprised at how poorly multiplayer did. I thought it would be at least #2. I however am not, this isn't a mud and the points brought up by you and others are pretty legit, what fun is it when the losing folks do not play out the scenerio and your left frustrated at the mop up of rebel bands of units that are no longer under anyo

A fleet of huge ships suddenly changing loyalties to become pirates in the middle of your main rivals shipping lanes could be a real inconvenience for them Course, I have always been in favor of bringing back the social disorder espionage tactic. The more you put into it the better chance of exactly this type of thing happening. Fleets, ships
Really we need to get a little extra thing going in the espionage area. I seem to remember a little something extra in an area of social disorder or something like that in GC. Anyhow, could a slider bar be put in place where you can send a portion of your espionage into social unrest (ie adding a negative amount of approval and morale). While were at this in the latest poll for GC3 would this fall under wanting more politics thrown in? W/R Suralle Straykat Kat Lord @ Large
Custom Race rocks and is one of the top 5 reasons why I bought the game. No where else can I have my kats in space. I like the fact I get a bonus to attack also and a small loyalty bonus, as I watch numerous screens in the productio arena I can see other races when they have turned up the "power" on production and having good morale, good loyalty allows me to match them in the production field. Now if this makes no sense to you, and it just may not, I admit I am totally f

Chu, Ayeap, see that here also. But I have another thought in mind about those ships. They eat up your moves. So your attacking them instead of attacking the AI planets. Ion, Please upgrade your version of software to the beta OR clear out your pref.ini file, delete all of your saved games, saved races, saved ships etc etc out or my games subdirectory under my documents. Than go and start a fresh MV game using a standard race, not a custom race. Do not under any circumstances reload a saved game while you are working in version 1.11, this issue with all reloads of that version causes a cheat detect has been fixed in the latest release of the current
