I'm remarkably surprised this blog hasn't resulted in a few offers...lol... Hang in there, vegas...you're in the right place to get laid eventually, at least...look at it that way...lol

CS...I'll be running for president in 2008, the first presidential election year in which I'll be eligible. I will, of course, be looking for people to fill important cabinet posts once elected...large campaign donations can go a long way towards securing a post...

Sounds about right. I've noticed the "melodrama" phase often includes targeting of talented newer bloggers (how DARE they be above me! I've been here longer), without realizing that, to climb the ranks in these blogs, you have to work hard at it.

Also, would Bobby Feller intentionally walk Bonds?--I doubt it. This has been my biggest lament in pitchers of today. Time was when the pitchers would go after Bonds just to beat him (except in late innings when it is prudent to preserve a narrow lead). Nobody should be intentionally walked before

"Disgusting" is too kind a word. The gay rights groups are themselves being hypocrites, as what they are hoping for is the kind of retaliation from the employers that these people have been fighting against for years. It is blackmail, and a sort of emotional terrorism that we shouldn't stand for.

It is interesting, as has been pointed out numerous times on these threads, that things don't so easily sort out into "right and left" categories. I am, at once, one of the most liberal and one of he most conservative people I know. I just don't fit into a box politically. As for mindset, I have to say, much of my political outlook is shaped by my faith. I believe it should be for all people, although I don't believe in using your faith to pur

I am sorry to hear that you're going through this, as drug abuse can be hellish. I don't think your attitude towards your sister is wrong, as what she really needs is to be forced to suffer the consequences of her actions until she wakes up and sees what an idiot she is (it's called "toughlove"...you may want to see if you can find some books on the subject).

Karma, I love the digital camera trick. As for the transexual-he/she deserves praise for undergoing a difficult surgery and being true to him/herself. *groan* transexuals deserve praise now? Tolerance I can understand, acceptance, not for me, but, hey, if it's your bag, go ahead...but upheld as

I'm here, I just didn't see the article the first go round. Frankly, in many ways, baseball is a sport based on tradition. Which is why purists will continue to argue the DH, wild cards in the playoffs, the list goes on. Except for the stated example of death threats against Aaron, such arguments are usually benign. A recent example: the Yankees tried replacing Cracker Jacks with crunch n' munch at Yankee stadium, and the outcry was s

I'm ranked #58, and my site is ranked #9. I greatly enjoy the warmth and humor I've found from many of the posters pn here. As for singling someone out for praise, check out MadPoet41. While he has a darker take than most, he is incredibly artful and insightful in his writing style. I could list many more favorites, but I'd hijack the thread by singling out the many good writers on here.

Grey - What happens when we don't elect a President in that system, then? Have another election immediately? The parties would have to reorganize, wouldn't they? Don't you think that would just start a huge chain of disqualification rounds? And wouldn't that system encourage a lot of not-quite-serious "third" parties to participa

Personally, I see the dilemna karma is addressing. This site is an excellent forum for free speech, but free speaking can bring out some rather strong opinions. If those arguments are debated on their merit, and personal attacks on the posters or other users are avoided, then things run the way they should. There's a big difference between "I disagree with your argument, and here are several counterparts I'd like to offer" and "You're a doo-d

We men lie because you women set us up. Examples: "does my butt look big?" C'mon now, really. Do you expect us to tell the truth? "Yeah, honey...some kid just stuck a 'wide load' sticker back there"? Or, how about this one: "Do you think that girl is pretty?" What do you think would happen if you said "Yeah, she fills out in ALL the right places"? Total honesty is the kiss of death.

Well, as a Libertarian, I have a problem when people try to break everything down to either liberal or conservative (since Libertarian/Totalitarian tend to be a different axis). hear hear

I was a 30, but the test is inaccurate. It failed to include libertarian choices on almost every issue (I had to go the "lesser of two evils" route.

Women automatically assume that if they hit a guy in the jewels he'll curl up in pain and leave them alone...again, wrong. Excellent poind, dharma. Actually, the thing is, curling up in pain is only the response when adrenaline is not a factor. When adrenaline is a factor (as it is for a rapis

For the record, karma, that's not entirely true. I have tried to remain reasonably neutral, and have found myself struck by the venom of others. I am extremely frustrated with the fact that there is absolutely no respect to be found for a dissenting opinion here. And yes, I am changing it. I am just trying to figure out a way to do it that doesn't involve leaving this site altogether.

I am sorry to hear that you feel that way. I will pray that things get better for you, and hope that you continue to find these blogs a good area in which to vent.

Crisp, I do agree with that much, and your citation of Woodward and Bernstein is an excellent example of incestigative reporting gone right. These days, however, the few hack journalists that are out to make a name for themselves through sensationalist hogwash have cast a very negative light on the many qualified and competent journalists we have in this country (and have driven many such qualified and competent journalists to either join the
