I just quit a game to post about this exact thing.. ..the spy option was driving me crazy in every game, i had one game with the terrans, where half my planets were nearly shut down with almost 20 spies from all the other civs because i was the #1 civ. even with the top economy and enough money to spend the total %25 of my economy($1000+) on espionage i could not get rid of them. fed up, i tried a game with the Krynn who are supposedly 'immune' with their super ability and ran acr

I love this new option in the game, the different planetary types. Not only does it give more interesting variety to the beginning of the game(no more planet rush, or atleast a more strategic drawn out one), but it also gives you more interesting planet graphics. Like the aquatic worlds, even though youve researched that tech and you can colonize those planets..youre still building on water, there arent any land masses. And the cloud cover over the planets, how it rotates above the rotation of t

I agree with everyone here somewhat..the spy feature is interesting but not balanced yet so its hard to play with. I had one game(large galaxy,9 opponents, occasional everything else and all aliens set on sub-normal intel.) I was playing the Altarians and was doing fairly well..aka the top civ...when out of nowhere i was bombarded with spies. Spies shutting down my factories, markets and research centers, at one point i had my manufacturing planet entirely covered with spies and a spy on almost

In 1.3 youre supposedly starting out with a population of 8bill on your home planet instead of 5, so that should help you some. You can also set one of your racial abilities to either planet quality, morale, loyalty(helps a little in growth i think tho not sure)and then the population growth ability obviously "frisky!". One or more of those in combination can really help in the beginning of a game. Also nab some morale resources which will keep your people happy, though honestly I usually pass o

Ok, so I know you guys have been pretty busy with the game lately..but I was wondering when the next act of the Legacy of the Orb; The Reluctant was going to be posted? I had become pretty addicted to the story so far and you kind of just left us hanging there.. No hurry, ok well maybe a little of a hurry..though Id understand cause id much rather have expansions and updates and the like. Thanks!

hahaha, all this cracks me up! obviously because i can relate 'what does it matter what im doing if youre busy with something else?'...it matters guys, it matters. ive yet to solve this reoccuring problem and the 'if you love me' bit definately doesnt work for me. if only it was as simple as a mini soldier invasion of an alien world... <br/

Yup, its true. Its a really bad habit. But I find myself never completely finishing a game. Aside from that tempting Ctrl+N option to get an optimal placing/setting, I find that I get bored too easily with any single game. I more often than not do a Gigantic map, occasional habitables, normal research, common stars and tight clusters with all nine civs at normal. I usually play the terrans along a neutral trading strategy(though ive tried all the other civs at one point or another), an

you need to build the fleet manager on said planet to get them to group together when defending from invasions. someone correct me if im wrong but the planet defenses is simply to give those ships in orbit a boost of defensive power..oor it actually does create a defensive shield around the planet? i was never clear on this distinction, because certain enemy planets(ones with planetary defenses) do look like they have a shield around the planet when fired upon. that being said, i always build th

Id love to see the 'space shrimp' back..having played GC1 extensively thats what they looked like to me. And I liked having them around because certain AI races considered them threats and spent a good amount of time and resources early in the game to search these monsters out to kill them. They can be a pain however when in your own territory going after your ships and starbases..but when its in an enemies space all the better! I also remember dl a mod 'space monster breeding' a technology and

jmccrea, great job, very clever. one question though, i feel like the forum here limits the viewing of this comic..is there somewhere else you can post it? i have a myspace page dedicated to galciv2 and while i just started it and theres very few members so far, i think they would enjoy this and youre welcome to post it there too if you like. let me know. cheers.

ive been having some problems with the latest 1.3 beta, in particular..when starting a new game it defaults the humans to 'fool' when i pick another race. im assuming its just a bug due to the early version, but wanted to know if anyone else got it too? also, can i delete this version..aside from doing a system restore to before i installed it? btw, unless i missed it somewhere on here..when's the fully functioning version supposed to be done and out? side note; for those of you on mysp
