Virtual Desktops "tear off to desktop" how??

OK, last post about Virtual Desktops was more than two months ago, so I'm probably SOL here, but I have to at least try.

I'm trying to move them off the taskbar (which I keep minimized). I left-click, the curson turn into the move cursor. I drag onto the desktop, the cursor has the littl outline box. I let go of the left-button and, wait for it, nothing happens!! WTF? I've tried turning on active desktops, nada. I tried installing Desktop X (which I didn't use before this), nada. What do I have to do to get Virtual Desktop in it's own window?

I've been using Virtual Dimension for a long time now, and I don't really have any issues with it other than it doesn't share the WindowBlinds skin with the rest of my apps. I'd like a VD that is skinnable, ya know? If this isn't possible, then why is it in the "documentation" that it can be? And where is the real documentation? The readme.txt just doesn't cut it. Nnot a peep about Virtual Desktop in the OD pdf.

That's always worked for me! Still got the latest ver on one PC and it's working as you describe.

You haven't locked your taskbar? (Although I don't expect you'd even get the 'move' cursor if so...)

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the taskbar *is* unlocked.

I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2, nVidia 6800 Ultra, 1gb RAM.
I bought the full Object Desktop on the 3rd (mainly for Right-Click, but Windows Blinds is nice too) so I'm pretty sure I have the latest version of Virtual Desktops.

Does the Virtual Desktops window skin along with the rest of the theme when it's torn off the taskbar?

No Idea. I run it without any window title bar and don't use skins in any case ...

32 days since last post. Are the StarDock developers simply ignoring these apps until their games are done? How can that possibly be considered good business practice?

I'm with you, buddy. Never have been able to move the VD off the task bar. Locked, unlocked, on top of all, auto hide, no desktop image, Tried it all. I get the little rectangle until I get to the desktop, then it turns into the "no,no,no, you can't do that" symbol.

Big shortcoming with Object Dock, no VD connector like in Object Bar.

You can use the OD VD plug in with RightClick and ControlCenter.  that should help some.

I'm not following you. Where does one get the OD VD plug in? and how do RC and CC play into the scheme of things? I don' use CC and I can't find a RC plug in, either.

I apologize for being so thick, but VD has frustrated me ever since I started using it. It seems it's just one little thing after another.

Sorry . . I meant to type OB (ObjectBar) not OD.  Totally my fault.  A small OB or CC bar with only VD running would act the same as VD torn off of the toolbar.
