Gays not so gay over Shalit review

I heard on the news the other day that The National Alliance of Gays and Lesbians Against Defamation has brought a lawsuit against "Today Show" movie critic Gene Shalit. It seems he gave "Brokeback Mountain" a poor review. Tsk-tsk. Now he's in for it.

This of course incurred the wrath of the gays and lesbians, who, I'm quite sure, are more than ecstatic that they've finally shattered the glass ceiling of the multiplex with the story of two gay sheepherders. Baaaaaa--aaad news for Gene.

And so, the lesbians lit up a smoke, slicked back their mullets and put on their work boots and leather jackets. The gays threw hissy-fits, screamed lispingly in rage and wildly flailed their arms, and they all went to see a lawyer.

With the picture receiving rave reviews from all over the homosexually-dominated entertainment industry, and poised to win the Golden Globe for Best Picture, can the Academy Award be far behind? No! So how can it be a bad movie!? Sue him! He's a hater! A homophobe! Even if we lose, we'll teach him a lesson! He'll think again before he does this in the future!

Yeeee-Haaaaw! Ride him, cowboy! You go, girl!

So shame on Shalit, the frizzy-haired old fart, for daring to have an opinion that runs contrary to the militant gay agenda. After all, haven't they suffered enough? They'll make us accept them if it kills us all!

Somehow I get the feeling that even if Bareback Mountain was nothing more than a couple of stick figure cowboys, riding broomstick horses on JibJab.com it would still be up for "Best Picture"... and if it isn't a runaway #1 at the box office for the year, I guess they'll say that our homophobic culture just isn't ready for this.

Which they {the MSM and TV pundits} also blamed for the death of Ellen DeGeneres' TV sitcom. I thought 'Ellen' was funny from its inception, but it got silly and a waste of time long before she toyed with coming out on the show.

My sentiments exactly. A lose-lose situation. May we NEVER be "ready" for such a thing.

As for Ellen D., we were hanging out at home and channel surfing one day here a while back, and her talk show was on. She was showering all her guests with gifts, giving free stuff to her audience, all kinds of stuff.
My wife said "Rosie, Ellen, Oprah (rumors abound there)....must be something about lesbians giving stuff away to people on their shows. I guess they have to get people to like them somehow."

Jesus Christ! Did you see the hair on that guy? That's the biggest moustache I've seen in ages!

I reckon what he said wasn't that controversial. 'Sexual predator' isn't that bad. It's not fair (the tryhards in romantic comedies aren't called predators even when they're obviously stalking women like prey) but it's not that harsh. I haven't seen the movie but it could even true if one character is stalking the other.

So much fuss over nothing.

He's always looked like that. I remember watching the "Today" show when I was a kid getting ready for school, and that was how he looked then, too. It's his schtick, I guess.

I'm curious just what the hell they can possibly base a suit upon. Reviews are by their very nature opinions. A private citizen has the freedom to voice their opinion whether certain peoples like it or not.

Nothing. Nothing at all; it is his opinion, yes, and he';s entitled.
But, if they can tie him up, even in a frivolous lawsuit like this that they know will be thrown out, it may work to silence him in the future. Make him think twice if the subject ever comes up again. They can't legally silence the opposition, of course, but they CAN make life difficult for them.

That's how underhanded stuff like this works, see?
