I Don't Know What Entertainment Weekly Was Thinking

I thought Chicken Little was good!

I took my boys along with neighbor friends to see Chicken Little today.  I found it very entertaining and funny.  Lots of humor that was at different levels.

Entertainment Weekly had the movie at the top of their Worst of 2005 list.  Why?!  It did have a lot of familiar Disney stuff in it.  Dead mother, a given for Disney.  Father who didn't believe in his son, a la Finding Nemo.  But it had very new, exciting, timely stuff too.

So I am going to say ~pffft~ to Entertainment Weekly and recommend it as a good movie to take the family to.

You know, I heard a lot of bad stuff about it, but some friends loved it, so I think we will go.

Only comments from this side are, like many other movies out currently, if you want to see it go soon, otherwise you'll be catching it on DVD.

Like many other studios, Disney hasn't been great about leaving movies out long. If they aren't taking in the big bucks, they pull them, and then roll out DVDs quickly to take advantage of people that would rather watch at home.

For the record, my family (at least my daughter, wife and myself) saw it in the theatres. I thought it was ok, not great, but not bad. I'm not that surprised that EW panned it, but they tend to pan just about everything except the most popular or most "artistic" movies. Anything in between is garbage in their world.

I thought Chicken Little was far better than Cheaper By The dozen II.  Why single CL out like that?

My kids loved it! They were laughing the entire way through it. They're begging me to get it for them on DVD as soon as it hits.

I enjoyed it. It was definitely aimed at kids. My daughter's already gotten me to promise her that I'll sit and watch it again with her.

*sigh* Things that Dads do for this little girls. If she bats those baby blue eyes at me one more time I'm liable to melt completely ...

My 9yr old saw it at a birthday party and couldn't wait to see it again.  My two boys and our neighbor friends laughed through it too.  I laughed out loud when Chicken Little said "Oh snap!"
