Sudden jump on planet class for all planets.

I think I saw this reported before but I could not find a title that looked like it might have contained the report. It was probably in a thread with some general title like "... bug report ..." or "... comments..." or " ... impressions ...". With over 200 threads in this forum during the last 10 days I am not going to try to find it by trying to look at the detail of every one of them.

With a gigantic galaxy and over 200 planets I saw a jump of about 10% in planet class of most, if not all, of my planets. While those that were at class 31 only jumped to class 33, those at class 10 jumped to class 11. I have saved before and after games and the error holds true on a reload. I am sending the games to Cari. I can not think of anything particular that may have contributed to it.

I found the cause. There is a resource that is supposed to increase morale that is increasing the class of all planets by one when you build a star base on it. The only resource I can find in GCResource.resource that says it increases morale is the one called "happy gas".

So what happens if you loose this resource to another race? Or any other resource? Do any of these resources get mined out or are they infinite?

Another think I see now that I had not gotten quite right before I reported this, All of my planets went up one class. The class 33 planets I had thought were 31s were really 32s.

Also , is it possible that the populations of all of my planets was reduced by this?

The stats screen shows the global increase in Planet Quality, so I think this was a mistake bringing out something that was going to be intentionally added later.

Well, what ever happened, I REALLY like it.

So I gather you do not think Stardock should correct it, just document it.

Well, I'll find out what's supposed to be going on...

Ok, it was specifically coded to improve both morale and planet class...I'm not sure if this was how it was supposed to be implemented, but I can find that out.

It is improving both planet class and morale. This is one of those things where I like hearing "its a feature, not a bug".

Woohoo! I'm really glad this is intentional.........its really makes the starbases 10 times more valuable........now just get the AI to value them as much as we do and this could get interesting.....

This seems to have totally dissapeared on build 3E. What happened? I have 4 happy gas resources with star bases on them and upgraded to provide a total 30% improvement each and my class 10 planets stay at class 10 and the morale on them won't support more than about 50 million (Gov=star fed). This is on a huge galaxy, if it matters. I have a saved game if SD wants it.

It was a bug. You werne't supposed to get planet improvement upgrades from the morale resource.

So how about the morale from resources? Why don't I see any affect there?
