If you are getting a blackscreen when loading galciv...

It's possible that there are three files in the drengin or galciv directory: DartObjects.dll, DartSock.dll and DartWeb.dll. If those files are there, they need to be moved to c:\windows\system32 and registered. You can do this by clicking on Start->Run and entering these
lines one at a time:
regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\DartObjects.dll
regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\DartSock.dll
regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\DartWeb.dll
The second thing that caused this was a problem with drivers. Some people only had to upgrade to the latest version of DirectX to fix this problem. Others had to re-install the drivers that they found to be conflicting with our mp3 player.
There were also a few cases where people's systems were having trouble with the bink files, and removing Intro.bik and sf_intro.bik from the galciv directory allowed them to load GalCiv.
Please let me know if this information helps. If the problem persists, please e-mail me your debug.err file from the galciv directory.
Thanks.
