Planet Class Jump

I was doing average until I plopped 4 starbases on 4 morale boosting resources and began upgrading them to 20% each. Then, almost without warning, my planets jumped up to 26s and 39s and my population took off. Are the resources supposed to directly affect planet class like that? Not that I'm complaining or anything......

Ummm...I don't think that they'e supposed to...and you didn't have any projects like Habitat Improvement or Terraforming complete that turn?

I've had this happen too... all of my 17-22 planets jumped into the 28-32 range for no apparent reason...

No I think it is a direct result of mining the morale boosting resources somehow. This was at the beginning of the game and I hadn't even gotten through 15 techs when it happened, and most of the soil enh. habitat improvement hadn't even been done.

It sure made me want to protect those stations though.......you know a planet class boosting resource might be a interesting idea. It would sure mess up your civ if they got destroyed.

I'm sure of it now..........I went back to the game and disbanded the morale boosting stations and my planets all went back down to their normal sizes.

Yeah, that must be it... it only happens when I mine the morale resource... weird.

Ah. Here is the thread I was looking for when I reported the same problem.

I sent saved games to Cari that shows this happening. There has to be something wrong with the way the code is handling building star bases on that resource (called "laughing gas", if I have the right one in the file "GCResource.resource"). Or a combination of the definition and the code.

Did any of you check to see if your population DEcreased when your planet classes increased? I think mine did, but I will have to reload my saved (and renamed) games to be certain if you didn't see this.

I REALLY like this bug. Every class 9 planet I colonize becomes a class 12 instantly. My class 32 planet is now a class 52 and is still building terraforming. And I still have some upgrades left to do on the star bases on "morale" resources (4 of them).

Also, I am thinking that the population loss was just a figment of my imagination.

Like I mentioned in the other thread, I think this is a mistake bringing out something that was going to intentionally happen later. Perhaps the code was intended to bring the Crystalai into the Windows version.
