I have no sound at all in the beta I got today, and I don't know what the problem is.

Stupid question, but have you downloaded the multimedia pack?

I'm experiencing this problem too. multimedia pack from where? (volume settings in game were fine)

Click on the GalCiv2 name in SDC, and you should see either the media pack below it, or a plus beside it. If you see the plus, click it. Then, click on the media pack. Finally, click install next to the media pack, and prepare to burn about 115 MB of your bandwidth.
