Problems with starting Beta 4.0D

Hi all,
I tried to post ealier but for some odd reason it didn't show up. So here goes another try. I bought GalCiv2 yesterday and downloaded it last night. Tried first to start it up, left the graphics alone, and all I got was a black screen (and I could alter the black screen's size by change resolution on the config app). I then tried downloading the graphics pack, still get a just a black screen. I then tried to click on the "Activate" icon, except that nothing seems to happen, as far as I can tell. I have a pentium 3.0 with a raedon 256 ddr mg card and DX 9.0C, so I don't think my hardware is the issue but I am kind of stuck right now since I can't even get the game to start up. I would greatly appericate any help that you guys can provide and thanks in advance!

Thanks

Bo

Your drivers are old. They might be the problem. Get new ones at www.ati.com, and download catalyst 5.12

VERY old.  Going on 3 years old.  You need to update your video drivers.

I thought my drivers were last updated on 3/22/2005

but anyways, thanks for the feedback.

Oddly enough, the game now works, only in windowed mode tho. So I guess I have to stick to playing in that mode for now. I haven't experienced the slowdowns other people are talking about in windowed mode and I have been playing a game on the large map. Maybe I need to give huge a try and things might be different/ But thanks and I hope you all have a good night.
