How do you control morale?

Hi,

I've been playing for a couple of days and I can't seem to keep my people happy. I'm not in debt and I always work on planet improvements and morale boosting techs and buildings. What makes my people so unhappy?

Morale is based on the population. The higher the population hte lower the morale unless you have tech's to counteract. At the moment this needs some tweaking.
I think we will see some improvement in Beta 3

Lower taxes. Always helps morale. ;)

I am waiting on Beta 3 to see if one of the morale problems is fixed (High class planet with huge population goes from morale of 50+ to below 30 in one turn).

Morale was pretty nice in the beta 3 game I played (and won) tonight. It's REALLY nice if you put a starbase on the morale resource. You get that, and enough trade income coming in, and you can lower your tax to almost nothing.
