We get no respect!

What is it with such college football teams, such as (specifically) the Oregon Ducks, in the AP/Coaches/Harris poll,s they are 11th, rising 4 spots... huh?

Not only that, but they rose 2 spots in the BCS standings, and UCLA dropped to #5... WTF!?

Is it me, or do certain teams get little or no respect in (IMO an unargueably biased) BCS poll?

Another Example, 2001 season, the Oregon Ducks were "jumped" by Nebraska... (Nebraska!?) Who had lost 2 games, versus Oregons Undefeated season...

Link

Oregon whipped Colorado, and Miami destroyed Nebraska... Now, why didn't the Ducks, when, technically they should have gone, Oregon was the #2 team. According to the fact that they were the only other undefeated team.

The "crew" that run the BCS claim that they are looking for an alternative, but nearly four years looking have seemed to have dug up squat.

Growing up, my mother was a BIG Notre Dame fan.  When I got interested in Football, she made me take USC in the USC Notre Dame game.  Been a fan ever since!

Oregon may be underrated with them only losing to USC, but again just how strong is the Pac-10. UCLA looks like they're overrated. Arizona State fizzled out. Cal has played USC tough, but again look what happened to them in their bowl game last year.

Even if the Ducks wouldn't have lost their QB for the season, would they be favored against any top 10 team on a neutral field? You think if the Fresno St. game was on the road the Ducks would have came back and won?

They are good and I understand you are a huge fan but come on, Luc let's be real the Ducks are ranked right where they should be. And they shouldn't be higher just because some years back they got slighted.

Now having said all that I wish there was a playoff system in effect.

btw ... don't be mad at the BCS rankings be mad at your beloved Ducks for blowing a big lead at HOME against the Trojans.

Amen to that... I mean shit... How screwed up can that get... I quit watching the game after USC scored the 28th point or so...

My biggest point is that there *is no* denying that the BCS is biased...regardless of Oregon,etc.. You look back since its beginning...

lod? hmmm, never heard of him...

ehh, the only reason the Pac-10 gets notice is cause USC... other than that its all about the ACC, BIG 10, BIG 12,etc... They hold the power house teams... *cough*Texas*cough*

I am your GOD OX!  Never besmirch the Pac 10! (Unless they are playing the ACC). Bow down to the only conference that means poop in Football (the ACC had to acquire good teams)!

You INFIDEL!

hack*cough*hack*.

Please guys dont make me do that again!  It is rough on my goozle pipe!

I'm a Ducks fan first, then a Boston College fan, then a West Virginia fan. Conferences only count when it comes down to conference winner, and Bowl eligibility... other than that..

You INFIDEL!hack*cough*hack*.

:S hey, who was the first winner of the NCAA basketball championship? Hmmm? University of Oregon.

Who is the only team to have more all americans, hmmm? Ducks...

Who is the one team who has the 'winningist" coach in the conference? The Ducks...

Who is the one team to maintain the longest 'winning season streak' in the NCAA? Ducks...

So on you...

And no worries, i just need you to sign here X__________, here X______________, and here X_____________.

Oh, and bow down to the ducks...

What? Rutgers, UConn, Louisville? Ok, I'll give credit to Loisville...but UConn/Rutgers= Good teams? Yeah, when hell freezes over....twice...

I'm just "skippy" happy that UCLA lost, that means the ducks should ("should") move into second...

Their biggest win is against Fresno St. That's the real reason they're not higher. Now if some huge upset was to happen when USC plays Fresno St. the Ducks might get enough computer points to play in a BCS game.

Sorry, Doc!! USC deserves all the praises they have beaten everybody and anybody put before them the last 2 years. But other than Oregon, who in the Pac-10 is even above average? Could UCLA beat any above average team with their defense? Stanford almost beat them and Stanford lost to UC-Davis which is a division II team.

Though the most overrated conference the last few years has been the Big 12. Oklahoma has played for National Titles and have gotten crushed. Auburn should have played USC last year. I think going undefeated in the SEC is harder to do than in the Big 12.

I really hope USC plays Texas for the Championship this year. Vince Young may be the equalizer against Leinart and Bush. Vince Young is so good he wins despite having Mack Brown as a coach.

Hey Luc, Oregon NOT playing UCLA actually hurt them in the BCS rankings. You don't want UCLA to lose unless it's to the Ducks. The more teams the Pac-10 has ranked higher helps the conference power rankings which in turn helps the Ducks.

None of those teams are from the ACC. They're from the Big East. Believe or not , UConn and Rutgers will both be respectable and on the verge of competing nationally in a few years. Look where those programs were just 2 years ago. Just wait when they start getting more recruits from warm weather places like Florida and Texas. Oregon won't want to play them.

Those are not ACC.  The ACC teams that are good in Football, Florida State, Miami, Boston College and Va. Tech, all came over recently from other conferences.

The ACC is Basketball.  Always has been.

I am talking history, not necessarily this year.  Year in and year out, before the BCS, the Pac 10 whooped the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl consitently.

Oops, got my conferences screwed up...better go re-learn them...with the constant (well, maybe not so constant) jockying around its a pain to keep up...

FSU, sure
BC, hell yeah
VT, ehh, they need their QB to touch up a bit... got whipped previously...

Yeah baby! I believe Oregon has one of the better records vs. big 10....not sure exactley, gotta look it up...

Ehhh, I disagree with ya on this.. in that it didn't entirely hurt Oregon...but hey, we'll have to wait and see... still got a few more weeks to go... Who knows...

But, how many teams have come close... I mean, if they are *so* good, why haven't they steam rollered every one?

Oh hell yeah, I think, if any team could do "dethrone" USC, its Texas...(I had hopes the ducks would do it)

I agree... by far... Now it comes down to the last few games, if they can get enough respect (so to speak) and cpu points, and have things play out just right...then hello fiesta bowl... (perhaps)

That is true, Doc, the Pac-10 consistently beat the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl. But to Pac-10 teams the Rose Bowl is almost like having a home game. Which is why the SEC always did good in the Sugar Bowl and the SWC always did good in the Cotton Bowl.

Don't you think Big 10 teams would have done better say if the Rose Bowl was played at Soldier's Field every year?

THe Big ten has no strength any more, I mean, c'mon... Penn State!? How the hell did they get this far.. Where's Michagen, Ohio State and the other 'groupies'....why arn't they lambasting them.... no consistency...

The PAC 10 however, have had ASU, Cal, and Oregon (besides USC) continually do well....
