Mine Fields?

What about putting in a ship or constructor that you can move to a particular part of the galaxy and it will fill a particular square with mines for x turns? There could be ones that do damage or slow ships down......

Anyway that is something that might give the player something to do earlier on............

hmm... mine fields are a useful defensive tool.. lock off a section of your systems with mine fields and have a primary barrier for the enemy to get through (mind you you are also locked in at those points)

This could be an interesting enhancement.

Some SiFi stories have included "smart" mines that know that your ships should be allowed to pass.

Oooooo I like that Idea.... Extra protection for us xenophobes that just want to be left in piece. New Ship Mine Layer/Sweaper. New Tech Track... Dumb Mines, Smart Mines, AI Mines, Deap Space Traps ala Star Trek TNG. What fun, would defenetly roll up the welcome mat and throw it in the trash :d

I like the idea of mines as well.

It would be something new to GC.

I find other Civilizations are too quick in trying to wipe me out. My only defense is a good offense. This is fine if you are playing the game with the War Party and you are going for Galatic Domination.

If you are trying to build a peaceful trading federation why should you have to build battleships to defend yourself? "MAD" at the Galatic Scale.

Defense technology would be the way to go.

What do you say Stardock ?
