Realistic Sol system???

Realistic Sol system???

Hey all, first post.

MOO2 is still one of my favorite games even with it's many flaws. There's just something about leading humanity (my favorite race) against all sorts of aliens skirting the edge of extinction. One thing always irked me though. If I'm playing as the humans I want to feel like I'm actually playing the humans. I want a realistic Sol system. Now I know MOO2 couldn't do this because of the limit on # of planets but I'm ass-uming GalCiv2 can.

Please please please please put a little box you can check if you're playing the humans to give you a realistic Sol system. It would also be cool to have the same checkable box if you're not playing as the humans but if they're there they will have a realistic Sol.

One last request, can somebody give me the system requirements for this game. I can't find them anywhere.

So how does that fit with custom races? Do you get to build your own Starting System? How should that work?

That would be interesting, but there'd probably have to be a limit on the total PQ of starting systems to keep it balanced...

I think earth should have a PQ of 13 10 is crappy by my standards.. But survivable Jupiter is PQ0 (it is by far TOO large to be sat on) Venus PQ Is 4(it can be surived but is EXTREMLY Hostile) Is satarn a Complete gas planet? Whatever on the "Start System For Start planets custom races dealio" i belive that each custom race can deciede on a varaitan How thier Home planet is and its neighboring planets Make a limit of 13PQ per planet or a total Star system of 40PQ combined (has a side-effect somewhere) What does everyone else think?

Mars is 5. Earth is considered to be 10. For game balancing Earth should be a well-rounded 15-20.

I agree with each Civilization have a pre-defined star system. Furthermore make them unique, say Arcean Empire's homeworld and other planets in star-system have atmospheres with a green tint to them.

Make their star systems unique besides Humanity, especially names rather than, "Arcea 1", "Arcea 2", etc.

I really believe that it would be a good idea to have permanant homeworld start system. Would give more backbone to the "believability" of the galaxy. The home start system permanant and the rest random... Tho I guess that i could get long and complicated to implement (artisticly long and balancing complex)

Having each 'home system' changing with the difficulty level would also work well. For example Earth would always be 10 however the higher the difficulty setting the better the home start PQ's would be for the other races. I like the idea of homeworlds as it increases the believability and sense of triumph gained by conquering a homeworld. You know which one it is and not just another name and number.

In the current beta, all gas giants are always 0 - that would include Jupiter and Saturn. As far as Venus goes, it's also got to be 0. Come on, the surface is hot enough to melt lead! Nothing can survive that.

What you forget about Venus...is that one could always terra-form it...to Earth like (that would be almost impossible for a Jupiter or Saturn - not the moons though - even at advanced tech levels) and second, why not colonize "underground" away from the corrosive gasses on the surface of venus....Venus should be a 2-4...

and why can't the "standard earth" be a 14-16? I mean it's a great place for humans to live?

BTW: that would really make Mars a 5-7 ( domes could be built immedietly and terriforming should be easy - if you can improve the planets gravitational/electo-magnetic field - jump start the molten iron core). Few well placed Hydrogen Bombs could do that...?

From what i know, the whole "Nuclear Tectonics" consept is compleatly made up by movie-makers who have no regard for real-world physics. However, I do agree with terra-forming mars. In GalCiv1, i often got the class 13-14 planets because the AI won't take 'em, and then upgrade them to class 16. Lot's of colonys all over the map. My point is that mas could be terra-formed. By the habitat improvments.

I want such a system for Starting a civ. and another thingy, PQ10 IS ACTUALLY LOW VERY LOW REALLY! So PQ15 should be a decent level or somthing. anyways, Is terraforming fixed now? And i tried A copy of the Beta3 Bulid and was able to do the upgrading thing and wondered if it was fixed...havn't ran into the turn bug yet(my theory is that the engine breaks down after a while and the AI falls apart or somthing is wrong with your OWN ships)

But really, i bet that droping a few bombs on the planet can "help" it but it has to be done VERY CAREFULLY and PLEASE PLEASE don't have people there... Hey i came up with a stupid idea: What if you had the option when you were landing a colony ship on a planet and you had the option of upgrading it for a HIGH cost then its awesome or somthing its really gay but i wanted to put it out...

I don't think Earth is even 15, try sunbathing without suntan lotion It even gets so bad that you can get skin cancer from it in some O3-poor regions.

If possible have Earth variable depending on the difficulty level. A high PQ starting level at easy makes things alot easier in GC2. However a base 10 regardless of the difficulty level should be used. This would also blunt the use of Ctl-N to ensure the best starting system possible. However I believe that an option to use a random starting planet should also be used. For those who like Ctl-N..

As for the other planets this is a game where anything is possible. I would not have been able to forcast accuratly the tech 10 years ago let alone 100 years in the future. Set a PQ maybe based on difficulty level or just what balances gameplay and let the forums come up with good reasons. There are certainly alot of interesting ideas out there. The most important aspect is game balance..

For the bomb thing you can choose ''core bombarment'' with 1 of 3 results.
1:The planet meltdown blows up or becomes PQ 0
2:Nothing happens
3:The planet releases internal gases of oxygen etc. and improves PQ.
