Peaceful Night

Hmm...first of the month, time for a poem!

Crickets outside my window,
Singing to the night.
Giving me comfort,
Taking away the fright.

Lilac, drifting in air,
A lukewarm breeze,
Ruffles my hair.
At peace...tonight.

Waking with a heavy heart,
More times than I can count,
Now goodbye I say to that part,
And to the darkness that did mount.

Now I know,
I honestly do,
The love I wanted so,
The love, between two.

Night no longer kills me,
No longer eats my soul.
I feel free,
And at last, so very whole.

I smile at the blackened sky,
And to the bright moon that mocked me,
And with a gentle sigh,
I think that this was truly meant to be.

Jeez kids... I'm gone a week, and look at you! No drooling, Shaun.

Thanks...I have a few gems in my collection...if you can find, "My Lonely Garden" hanging around here, could you please read it? I think it's one of my better ones...
