If you are using the Theme Manager program, start it and select the top most suite in the list, and then click "Apply".

If you installed a suite that has a stand-alone installer, and do not have Theme Manager listed in the Start > All Programs menu - you should have a listing in this same menu for the suite. Start the suite program from this menu, and you should see an option to select the Windows XP desktop, then click "Apply".

After successfully using one of the methods above, right-click the desktop > select Properties > click the Themes tab > select Windows XP in the theme drop-down list > click "Apply" - this will force the XP themes service to take control, and you will be back to default theme and service.

I'm done guessing...what program changed it to begin with and what Stardock apps do you have installed?

Windows Blinds
Icon Packager
Theme Manager
Cursor XP
Boot Skin
Logon Studio

IP is probably holding on to it. Try this: Start/ Run: regsvr32 /u "C:\program files\stardock\object desktop\iconpackager\iprepair.dll" and reboot

Failing that, click on a blank area of your Desktop and hit F5.

Still no joy, download and install TweakUI. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Use the 'Repair' option.

The board says you answered, but it didn't show up (#18 is AWOL).....gremlins perhaps...

Whatever version you have, try this: Open IconPackager/ Icons and Cursors. Highlight Recycle Bin and click 'Restore Default' and then 'Restore Windows Default'. Apply.
