Newbie Folder Problem

Hi Just wondering how, if possible to make a folder on the desktop which when opened shows all the icons in the folder but the have the backgrond of the folder (not the frame) behind the icons be transparent so the desktop wallpaper shows thru.

this used to be an option in windowblinds back in the day. might still be there, but not exposed in the ui.
