Crash to desktop when colonizing a planet.

I have a gigantic galaxy with many planets and am doing battle with the Yors. I am near the end of the game. One of the stars I captured from the Yor had a habitable planet I wanted to colonize so I built a colony ship and proceeded to colonize it when it crashed and returned to the desk top.
SmarException is stll NOT WORKING on my pc, but the last few lines of my Debug.err file contains:
-----------------------------------
Debug Message: MemMan: Unable to find pointer in GetBlockInfo. Memory system: UIGame
ASSERT ERROR in file g:\projects\pear\source\memman.cpp at line 579.
Debug Message: MemMan: Trying to free memory that has not been allocated. Memory System UIGame
ASSERT ERROR in file g:\projects\pear\source\memman.cpp at line 361.
----------------------------------
Cari,
Does the above allow you to track down the problem? I could send you the entire debug.err file if you like. The saved game is not quite to the point where it would make it easy for you to recreate this error if I sent it to you, and I have not checked yet to see if I can recreate it from the saved game. I will do so and have it ready if you find you need it.
Cheers,
