The Faded Light

i claim to be a knight light
one that will guide, protect,
and give heat; but now i'm just
the faded light
you gave me my light
handed me instructions
for becoming what has now become
the faded light
you guarded our love
at whatever the cost
and I have ruined it with
the faded light
you have a heart so warm
enough to keep me dry
while you take all the blows instead of
the faded light.
how do you do it?
how do you stick with it?
how do you tolerate
the faded light?
i've failed you
i've lead you astray
i've become
the faded light
please forgive me
i want to improve
upon the glow of
the faded light
you deserve it
for the time,
of sticking with
the faded light
....
you accept my wrong
and wish for me
to come back a new
a new shining light

I'd rather not go into too many details but basically I realized that I've been very selfish in the past. I've come to expect all of Sarah's (my wonderful girlfriend) generous love and kindness. Yes I should be able to, but the way I've behaved it's not right for me to.
I hurt her recently and apologies just aren't very affective if all you can say is you're sorry. Because of that, I decided to right her this poem.
Sarah~ thank you for not giving up on me. I love you so much. You've been so great to me and you just don't deserve my stupid remarks. I'm sorry, once again.
Sarah really is an amazing person. She won't ever agree with you if you tell her that, but she is. She's modest; talented; intellegent; funny; and, of course, beautiful. Well, from where I stand, she's just amazing from every angle so my opinion doesn't really seem to have a huge impact on how she feels, so maybe some of you that might see some of this in what she writes could help me out??? That would be greatly appreciated.
Sarah~ I know you are good at blowing my compliments away, but please take them seriously... Everyone I know would agree with me about you.
I'm horrible with words, I know. I just don't know how else to say what I'm thinking. I hope that poem and everything else I've said made some sense or atleast didn't make things worse.
