The Coral Snake & the Scarlet King

Nature is full of look-alikes. In the scientific world it is called mimicry. When it comes to snakes, it can mean the difference between life and death.
The Coral snake has a twin that only can be detected by the avid herpetologist. For years, biologists believed the resemblance between the coral snake, and its harmless near-twins, the scarlet snake and scarlet king snake, was a classic case of mimicry. The impostors, scientists thought, adopted the coral's colorful bands as a survival mechanism. Predators that learned the hard way to avoid coral snakes would avoid scarlet, too.
But since a coral snake's bite invariably leads to death, there is NO lesson to be learned, someone finally realized. So why, then, the uncanny similarity? Possibly for a spiritual lesson?
The Word of God warns the believer of false apostles, deceitful workers transforming themselves into angels of light, therefore it is not great thing if the ministers of Satan also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15. There were Coral snakes in the church at Corinth and they were not there for handling.
How can the believer make the distinction?
With the Word of God and the Spirit of God.

Not so. Whilst it may be that an individual animal cannot learn this lesson, the species as a whole can, due to genetic variation between its members. Those that have a higher genetic predisposition to approach scarlet snakes are more likely to die before procreating. The species as a whole may thus develop a genetic tendency to avoid scarlet snakes which becomes more pronounced with each successive generation; ie. the lesson is progressively. 'learned'.

actually its the ones that approach coral snakes, but you're right. works wonders for a number of species of butterflies that mimic their poisonous cousins.

Good Morning to you to. You have asked a question and then answered it? Perhaps a little elaboration would be useful. Jesus uses wolves to describe these type of individuals. I was chatting to my dutch neighbour recently and she related a rather interesting tale. It came from the confessions of a witches assistant. The husband and wife team, used to love going to Christian prayer meetings and when the time came to lay hands on people they would go up and pray for people, laying hands on them. One particular session, the assistant stood fast in the isle and would not move, when the witch asked what was wrong, her assistant said, "Can't you see?"...."See what?" said the witch. To which the assistant replied, "Jesus, he is there". That was the last time that they went and did that. The Good Shepard watches over his sheep.

How can the believer make the distinction? - Your initial question.



1.Like their maSter they love to tamper with the Word of God.
2.Jesus also said that you would know them by their fruit. Being a follower of Jesus means you will depart from inquity or rebellion, which is likened in the Scriptures to the sin of Witchcraft.
3.Most important of all you would have a witness in your spirit whether they are Children of God or not.

Very interesting post aeryck....and the evil spirit answered and said Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are ye? It does appear the demons have a clearer understaing of Christ.

What I can not understand is those that profess a trust in Christ, yet have a blatant opposition to God's Word. When you press the Word of God, they seem to rather supplant truth with opinion. At a casual glance you can't tell if they are the Coral or the scarlet. But as the discussion continues, and you keep the Word of God in the discussion, it becomes clearly which reptile they are.

Your first post on this discussion, revealed a very interest truth,. Thanks for posting it, but how did you get my dude? I thought you were using a kitty-cat head!

I have tended to use a more conversational style when talking to people about Jesus. But sometime it gets really hot, I guess it has lot to do with what sorts of tempreture you can handle. Scripture undiluted has the same effect as liguor undiluted, it fries the brain of the person you are talking to. I do not mean diluting truth just presenting your thoughts in ways that are interesting and open ended, thus allowing people in through the cracks. I hope I don't sound like a people pleaser, but I just hold to the firm stand that Jesus was the friend of sinners. He did not endure phonies, but met fire with fire. The phonies love to use scripture to foisture their own causes. Otten a text of Scripture that someone is attacking is hidden in a long speech, then suddenly one sees it. You can either do the red hot flames, fire and gloom and doom bit, and get them running for the woods screaming, or you can gently break to them over a series of explanations in hopes that they might change their minds. I prefer the former open forum, the slow explanatory style is well recieved, there must be no compromise for that will in the end be traced and on will be hated for it. I guess the motor mouth, lazer lip approach works for some and I have been guilty of such. Truly I would love to do it like Jesus said, wise as SERPENTS....yet gentle as DOVES......

I concur my friend, that is why He came. They that be whole need no physician. I have never talked to anyone that I did not truly love in Christ, even if it is not perceived that way. Oft times it is very hard to change peoples perceptions.

I agree, they are some peolpe who are receptive to discussion and others that the word of God is the only speech. I do realize the later is not as pleasent yet I do feel it has it own results.



Truly I would love to do it like Jesus said, wise as SERPENTS....yet gentle as DOVES......
