Country Twilight
An idyll thing...(a descriptive poem)

Cool, crisp air stirs the leaves,
A small rattling cricket conducts its chorus to the world.
The sun slowly descends beyond the horizon,
And the last flickering rays highlight the low peaceful clouds.
As darkness takes over the majestic pastel of the sunset,
The small, gleaming flashes of fireflies dazzle the eyes,
And give a certain mystic quality to the twilight.
The calls of owls ring through the trees,
Small shrieks of unfortunate rodents echo.
The buzzing of mosquitos and other nocturnal insects annoy many,
Moths drawn to a steady light flutter incessantly to the source.
A rather quiet evening as usual,
No machines to spoil the magic,
No violence to turn the night into a fearful thing.
A peaceful feeling as the daytime creatures bed down,
The sweet smell of lilac on the gentle breeze,
A beautiful evening, indeed.
