Difficulty levels

The difficulty seems to be way unbalanced once a guy gets to competeing with higher level AI like "Incredible" I don't understand how I can play on a large map with three races plus me, all three races are intelligent which makes the difficulty Normal. But I play in a tiny galaxy with one race plus me and the AI is "incredible" but the difficulty is "Simple" Simple? this scenario is FAR from simple in fact it makes the 3 races on "intelligent" look like a remedial gym class. Not only is the "incredible" AI difficult but it starts out the game with a ton of ships and he seems to be able to produce at 5 times my rate, even when my spending is "cranked" His ships move across the entire galaxy in one turn and his smaller POS ships are easily killing my larger non POS (Peice Of Shi*) ships. He killed my starbase with basic defence with 2 corvettes... come on people. My original intention was to come here and do some whining (mission accomplished) but I digress and maybe some of you that can play these types of scenarios could offer some advice or at least point me to it. I love this game but once I got to higher level AI it seems to me that the "difficulty meter" is on the fritz and it would be nice if it seems like my "resistance" wasn't so futile.

Hi Cloot,

Your message sounds like you have been playing for awhile but not submitting games to the Metaverse. If I could review your game submissions I would get an idea of your abilities.

The AI gets more bonuses for every level of intelligence that you apply to them. I would recommend that you start out with medium sized maps, enable all the AI to set the game to Normal. Trade routes, trading tech to AI for cash, tech for tech are important steps to wining this game. You may find that Normal is too easy so keep bumping the AI intelligence until it becomes hard. When you are inexperienced in this game, I think that the micro managing of a large, huge, gigantic map will become too much.

You may also find that more aliens in the game make the game a bit more easier because they can keep each other busy.

Military victory gives more points than the other victory types.
