Balancing My Budget

I've been playing GC for 2 days now. What I would find really helpful is if the game could automatically balance the 'spending rate' slider for me. The best setting for my playstyle is whatever gives me a 0 income, and I'm finding it increasingly frustrating to have to go in and adjust the slider %1 or %2 every turn.

There is no auto balance. Sorry. There are ways around it, depending on how you want to play. You can set your spending lower or off for a few turns, and then spend however much you want for a while, or you can adjust every turn. I perfer to adjust every turn, because I can keep morale/approval at the level I want.

I usually set my tax slider at 50% at the begining of the game and leave it alone after that. If I need a quick morale boost I use the propaganda slider. Opening up the economic policy screen and adjusting it every turn just seems like a bit of a hassle to me.

You don't have to adjust it every turn, I only do it after every 10 turns to see how the spending rate has gone up or down and then reajust it. A good advise is try to build your banks center really early in the game and the Economic Capital too. It helps to boost your economy, check for those techs that increase your economy and the buildings that will help boost it.
