Saved game reload in 1.2 is BAD

Well, what is this??

I saved a game in 1.2 and reloaded it. It had been 20 minutes since my last save (not auto-save), and it was all screwed up. Negative income, most of my ships were gone, different planets...
What's going on with this??
Any fixes? >:(

did you save over an old save file? if u did then this is the problem. 1.2 has to be saved as new files.

I did run a few games on the original install version, 1.0, I think. Then I upgraded to 2.0 through Stardock, and started a new game. Now, I *did* save the new game under the exisiting previous saved-game I had under 1.0, but I had been able to load it several times before after upgrading to 2.0 with no problem. So it's hard to trace the problem.

I also checked the date and time for the saved game that should have been the 2.0 format, and it showed a recent time, so I know I wasn't choosing an old version either.

Anyway, I have deleted all of my old saved games except for the one with the problem. I moved its directory and its sav file someplace else if I ever feel like troubleshooting it.

Maybe it was a glitch, maybe I did something stupid. Anyhow, unless it happens again, I'll just ignore it.

there's an explanation in this thread. the new save file format is not compatible with old save files...i think...

I did NOT try to use any older format for loading a game under 2.0. All I did was save a NEW game in the 2.0 format under the name of a saved game I had from version 1.0. One would think that would not be an issue.

I tried to reload from an autosave file and got a consistent CTD. Strangely enough, I could reload from the "previous autosave" file. After deleting the autosave file and playing enough turns to get another autosave, I can now load reload from either. Seems like the install for 1.2 should have warned us to delete all old saved games including autosave, previous autosave, quicksave, and endgame save.

Well, for now, each time I save, I choose a new file name. I know, this is probably WAY overkill, but if you have a lot of time invested in the game, ya wanna be careful, yes? :D
So far, I have had no problems. Crossing my fingers here.

I had this problem too, so I deleted all my save games under old versions and now things save and reload fine.

You know, the strange thing is... there WAS a warning about this very thing in the 1.19 changes thread (and it would be assumed to be in 1.2 as well, since 1.19 was a preview of 1.2), but I can't find it anywhere now. But I don't recall it being specifically mentioned in any of the 1.2 threads.
