Strange happenings

I don't know if this is a bug or some kind of incompatibility in my own software or if I've got a weird hardware problem. But it SEEMS to be related to Galciv, since the problem only occurs when I'm RUNNING Galciv. And it seems to be related to the metaverse code.
Last night when I finished a game, I tried to enter the results and Galciv locked up. I could not even terminate Galciv from the task manager, the task simply would not respond, even though other tasks seemed to be operating normally until I made the mistake of letting Galciv have the focus at which point it was reboot time.
This afternoon, I thought I would inspect the Metaverse by entering it from the very first menu (the one the doors open to reveal). Same thing. The program locked right up and would not obey the terminate command from the task manager. Moreover, when I did reboot, my computer would not actually quit Windows and had to be rebooted manually. The CMOS was mangled and had to be reset before the computer would reboot at all.
Running in Win2K Pro SP4 with 384Mb RAM on a PIII-550 (ASUS P3B-F MB).
Any ideas?
