Click population where AI civs are?

I have not tried this in the beginning of a game, but when I click on population in mini map, it reveals where the AI civs are. So even if I have not explored there, it will still show me where an AI is just by clicking population. I noticed other buttons on the mini map also do the same. Is this supposed to work this way? I am playing on normal level btw.

It's not "supposed" to work that way, but it's in the program. It's your decision if you want to use it or not. ...and don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise.
