Hey Tim!
Take it from a college gal....it ain't easy, but it's not highschool. Part of what drains us in highschool is our peers. No matter how much we try to deny that we care what they think, it's useless. When you get up in the morning, you think about who you're gonna see, what you're gonna wear, how you're going to impress.
To some extent, that stuff goes on in college, too. But it's not to a degree where our social being is exhausted and therefore exhausts all of our creative powers. It's hard to explain, but in college there seems to be a universal understanding that we here to help one another...to learn and to grow and to figure out where we fit in this world.
I know your article revolved strictly around school work and motivation, but it's my belief that we'd have a whole lot more energy and tolerance for school work if we didn't have all the other pressures. Plus, believe me here, college is much more interesting because the people actualy want to be here (most of them), and your guaranteed at least one class a day where a thought provoking conversation will occur because people aren't as scared anymore to share who they are and what they've learned so far.
Teachers are more helpful too. They allow the conversation because they know that that's what will teach us the most....interaction and relationships built on understanding.
I'm sorry if it's all rambling, but I don't want you to get discouraged. I've been keeping up with your articles, and you make me smile. I'm happy you're doing well.
