Those Tough Questions

While on a two-day vacation with a couple friends this weekend/yesterday, along with having an amazing time, I was challenged through some questions one friend asked. Yesterday, in the midst of asking random questions about boys and colleges, she said, "Oh, guys, here's a question. What do you think is the biggest problem in our society today?" I really didn't have to think twice. After a minute of pensive thinking, my other friend agreed. The second question she challenged us with was, "So, what are you guys doing about it?" I thought; this question wasn't quite as easy as the first. I stand up for my beliefs that are contrary to popular opinion in conversation, once in a while I'll pray about it. I try to form logical arguments about my beliefs, but what am I really doing?

I don't want this to become an argument over what the "biggest problem in society is today," but what do you think is the biggest problem is with an emphasis on the second question. What are you doing about it? In the least, are you standing up for your beliefs, and even more, are you doing something today that will effect what happens tomorrow? How important is it to you that you make a difference?

Just some food for thought. Responses are encouraged. :)

Every decision that a person makes will effect any other persons life, even when the person's deed is small.
I always thought about it that way. What you do today will affect your closest community, bringing the effect into their own closest community, and so on and so on.
Let's say this blog. You write a blog for everyone to read. i read it, and make this reply. Any other person read it and begin to question the same for herself. She then asks her friends about the same thing. They discuss it the way you discuss it with your friend. Someone will write a blog about it, someone will contemplate on it, someone will keep it in memory. Potency for some chain reaction of deeds is there for any deeds done.

mythgarr, You're right about every small deed counts. Maybe it just doesn't feel like it because often times we don't see the results. Or at least not for a while. Thanks for the reminder.

I want to agree with both of you, the small things really do make a difference. If you believe that working to preserve or planet for future generations is a priority, you don't immediatly have to stop driving and eat only organic foods. You just have to be consious that the choices that you make do affect things on a global scale.

This is probably an overused adage, but I do think that it is especially applicable in the Unites States today....The best way to vote is with your money. Help support products or organizations that fight for the causes you beleive in. Be willing to pay 30 cents or even....gasp..a dollar more for something that is made in the US. Donate to that charity that does good things in your opinion. We all can really make a difference, in what ever it is that we want to make a differnce in.
