yearsago,

Possible corrupt installation.

I would do the following:

1) Uninstall both programs, reboot machine.

2) Go to "C:\Program Files\Stardock" folder (where "C" is the drive letter, substitute drive letter if other than "C"), and delete ObjectDock and DesktopX folders if they still exist there.

3) If you are running XP, in any windows explorer window, go to "Tools>Folder Options>View tab" and select "Show hidden files and folders" - click "Apply", then "OK".

4) Go to C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock (where user name is the name of account you are using the programs in), and delete any ObjectDock and DesktopX folders there as well.

Now that you have removed any "remembered settings" the computer might use to repeat the corrupt install, reinstall the programs, then reboot to make sure settings take.

(item of note: if you have the complete Object Desktop suite, you might want to uninstall it to include any possible issues with clean install. If you do this, delete the complete "Stardock" folder in both instances above, not just the ObjectDock and DesktopX folders.)

(second item of note, you might want to go to SDCentral and delete any archives that exist to give you a true clean install when you reinstall the programs - not necessary if you have the .exe's)

Good Luck.

Sorry to ask, but are you using WindowsXP? The 'kernel32.dll'-question in DesktopX usually only shows up in non-XP systems.

Note that the current version of DesktopX only supports WindowsXP and can't be used on WindowsME.
