A Rank Newbie, part 2: The Great Galactic War

Thanks to everony for the advice, it made me the dominant power in the Galaxy in everything save manufacturing, and I was working on that.

The Drengins were the last ones I met, and they were pretty weak, considering. No real military to speak of, despite the fact that they were evil. But of course, them being evil and me being good, my negotiations with them didn't improve relations in any significant fashion. My vastly superior military kept them civil, but nothing more. (Though the "What do the great overlords of the galaxy want to rap about today" bit was amusing.)

So I decided to take them out. Being a Democracy I had to get Senate Approval, but that went fine. But apparently, this was th signal for everyone else to fight eachother--well, everon except the Altarians, who were also two-bit players this time around. The Yor, Torians and the other guys, the vaguley monkey-ish ones, were in a 3 corner war. At first the Yor's tech went through the roof, surprising me. But then it nosedived. It took me a while to look at the report page to find out everony was at war with eachother, and by then i'd made the mistake of allying with the Torians. So suddenly I was fighting the Yor..and losing. Then one of those huge recessions that never seems to end hit, and at -2000 in the treasury I bailed out. I'll start over from my last save. Clearly I'll wait until the Drengins are eliminated, and let the other races beat eachother up for a while, so I can continue to advance technologically and in influence.

My questions: Will the aliens repeat their last actions, since I;m starting from the save before I attacked the Drengins? And should I be worried about the Yor's sudden Tech boost? Any other advice on picking sides in the war or when or why are appreciated.

Arcalian,

If you want to avoid the Senate vote, sell/gift the "Attack Dreg" contract to anyone.

I believe the tech graph shows the amount of resources you are putting into tech for that turn, rather than the tech rating. That's different from the military graph, which shows the military rating. So the Yors could be pumping alot in tech for those turns and then diverting resources to military/social subsequently.

The aliens will not repeat their actions exactly if you return to a save. Circumstances change and they will react accordingly.

Picking sides in a war? The winning side of course :)
But I don't like to get dragged into wars so I don't ally much.
