I wonder if the AIs can steal from us. They should, to be fair. The question is then how to stop them. Counter-espionage?

Seems to be a one-way street right now. You can steal, and there's nothing you can do to stop the theft.

You know, I don't have any definitive evidence, but in my last few games there's been a couple of times I've thought to myself that maybe that AI just stole a tech from me. Like when you pursue a branch of the tree that the AIs don't normally research- and yet when you go to sell some techs one of the AIs already has one.

I'll pay more attention in the future, this might be happening. It would be pretty cool if so, otherwise it's just a human advantage.

It would be good if AIs can steal but it's a bummer if there is no defense.

Perhaps the espionage spendings against each other can be netted off so whoever is spending more can get to steal.

That would be relatively simple to code, and wouldn't require any GUI changes. That'd be a good way to implement it at little effort for Stardock.

Except that all your counter-espionage would go for naught when an new minor race pops up. It will start with all your techs, and then trade them to all the other empires while you're on a bathroom break. >:(

Hmmm...a good reason to exterminate all minors...

Frogboy,

If you are doing score testing and would like my 1.091 Calkwalk, Crippling or Maso savegames, just let me know.

I was thinking about how we can make rally point assignments more convenient. How about using hotkeys?

Say I create 5 rally points numbered 1-5 on my resource starbases. When I select a constructor, pressing Ctl-1 would send it automatically to Rally Pt 1 and so forth.

This method would be easier than the current assignment of rally points for planets.

Anyone noticed that when anomaly space sharks or space pirates appear, they immediately take severe damage in the next turn for no apparant reason?

I had space pirates in my last game very near to the end of the game and 3 of them that kamikazed themselves against my starbases had less than 30-50hps when they had max hps of 500-600. Don't think they had any battles before that.
