new guy on wincustomize

hi, i'm new to wincustomize, a friend showed me this site. i was looking at all the stuff and under Suites i found one i really liked, Transilvania. now when i want to load all this to my comp, i'm a little leary. first, i know i have to download the suites programs, but do i have to download windowblinds and other stuff too? also, if i don't want the skin to show, and i want the default XP one back, how do i do that? finally, when applying a skin, do i need to back anything up, will i ruin all my app's and everything if i use this. i don't want to have to reset my whole comp. thx in advance

Hi and welcome. You're not going to like this but here goes.

The suites program is basically just compiling parts of different skins/icons/etc so you can apply them all at once with one click. If you don't have the programs I believe the suites proggie will ask if you want to use that part or not.

I looked at the theme you like and to use the entire thing, you would also need Windowblinds, Icon Packager, Winamp, CursorXP, and Sysmetrix.

SysMetrix and Winamp are free, and I believe there is a fully functional demo of CursorXP (not sure, I don't use it). Windowblinds and IconPackager do have trial versions. Here's the homepage listing all the programs.

o yea, and you can switch to your default xp stuff anytime you want, just go to the appearance tab and choose the xp theme.

and no, you do not have to back anything up as none fo these software change any of your system dlls.

thx so much. really was worried about it messing up my computer. ok, i can deal with the trial versions, quick thing though, if i install everything, and download the trial versions to use, if the trial versions run out, since i'm using suites it'll all stay up still right?

Just remember that the window blinds will not show up exactly as they are shown in the screen shot if you only use the trial version of Window Blinds.

Scroll bars and window controls are not skinned with the trial version. However the color scheme that the skinner chooses will be used on these items

Trust me, after you've had the trial versions a while and tried a few other skin & things you'll want the full versions. I'm pretty sure you won't regret getting the full versions either. Trust me, I know.
