I think I've seen this with past versions.. Here's what I did to fix it:

1) uninstall DX
2) make sure ALL traces of the program directory are gone
3) re-install DX

You should be good to go after this.. Check back if not.

A lot of the objects are using scripting that depend on the very newest (pre-released) versions of DX.  If you have purchased OD or DX you will be able to install these versions.  In Stardock Central on the lower left of the Object Desktop software tab make sure to checkmark *show pre-released* versions.  The newest one I have is 2.19m[b].003.

you might also try posting some details about the objects you are having problems with.. Is it ANY object, or are there specific ones that are causing problems? You might try installing a really basic object like a simple calendar to see if that will work and then move on to more advanced objects so we can tell if it's a version issue.. Good Luck!

It doesn't matter which object I put on, old or new.......that stupid Microsoft error report comes up......."DX has encountered a problem and must close, do you wish to send an error report". I have tried going through Stardock Central........it still won't work

it might be a compatability problme between desktopx and and some other software you are using... try closing things that you dont need one by one... then try loading desktopx again.

I went as far as uninstalling Stardock Central, to see if that's causing some kind of compatabilty problem......when I tried to load an object it comes up saying something about a buggy program and then the error report comes up again.....now what?

uninstall, and then try reinstalling the latest release version (not beta), into a different directory, (to make sure old files left over from uninstall dont conflict).

This is exactly what it says"DesktopX does not appear to have exited correctly. This could be the fault of a corrupt theme or a buggy plugin. Would you like to start with a empty theme or attempt to load the cuurent theme again(yes or no)?" I push yes, DX comes up, I load the object and then the error report comes up and then it closes.....arrrr

I might just wait version 2.2, hopefully my computer will like that one.

can someone ask the programmers to read this thread?

I am going to try and see if it works on another computer...
in the mean time why dont some of you try to contact the programmers
Reply #21 Top
ok it works on the other comp... Here is what the problem is as far as i can tell:

this same thing happned to me like 6 months ago, the only way I could fix it was to re-image my computer ... The thing that causes this is objects that use scripts and beta versions of dx... It usually happens when you fiddle around with a dx browser. IF you figure out how to fix it just cut the power on your computer every time the error shows up and it will work when you turn it back on I AM SERIOUS thats what i did when it was happening a long time ago...

WHERE ARE THOSE PROGRAMMERS? Admins, can you please contact them or somthing
