Start11 - Nagging upgrade pop up & windows and frozen start charms

Windows Version Number: Windows 11

Two things.  1.  Start11 asks me to upgrade too much.  I paid for the software fair and square, I own it, allow me to opt out of upgrade alerts.  That's low class.  2. Start11 stops working after a period of time and makes the Start Charm and System Tray un-click-able.  The only way to get it back is to uninstall Start11.

This was good for a couple of years but has turned into a dumpster fire.  I am running v1.55.  What's the latest stable version for my license that I can run, and where can I get it?

Sorry to hear you are having issues. 

  1. Do know that you can turn off update check by turning this off.
  2. Please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.
  3. The latest is v1.60 and it should be available in your account product download page. Link given above.

Thanks for the quick reply.

  1. I’ll look for that toggle. To be clear, the prompts I mean aren’t just “new version available” notices. They keep pushing me to upgrade. If turning off the update check also stops those upgrade prompts, great. If it only covers update checks, please let me know how to disable the upgrade prompts too, since I already own a license.
  2. I’ll do a clean uninstall, reboot right away, install v1.60 from my account’s product download page, and reboot again. I’ll report back after a few days of use, since the freeze only shows up after a while. For reference, I’m on Windows 11 [version/build], and when it happens the Start button and system tray stop responding until Start11 is uninstalled.
  3. Thanks for confirming v1.60 is the latest. Can you also confirm it’s covered by my current license without needing a paid upgrade?

  1. If you see the upgrade to Start11 v2 prompt popup usually there is a button to tick "Don't show this again" or something like that. This should stop it from appearing again.
  2. Yes, do report back if the issue still appear, we have few steps to suggest moving forward.
  3. If you have purchased Start11v1 it the activation key should work on all Start11 v1.x ever released.
