Windows 11 25H2.

I no longer have preview on hover over the taskbar icons. I can't find a setting that controls for this, but it means that if I have to manage a window from the taskbar -- move, close etc -- I can't. Pretty sure this changed with the new version of Start11 2.8 earlier this month.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. From what I know Start11 does not have control on taskbar button preview. Perhaps something went wrong while installing. Please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

If the issue still appear, we need to know your Windows 11 25H2 and OS Build number. Use Winver.exe to get those numbers.

Thank you,
Basj,
Stardock Community Assistant.

This registry entry may help.  If not, you may want to contact pelaird.  He's apparently more informed than basj.

I just installed 2.8, and it is not ready for prime time.  How do I roll back?

What problems are you having in particular?

End of Neil's quote

I have the taskbar on the right of the screen, with the Start button at the top.  When I try to click on the top task button just below the Start button, it acts as if I clicked on the Start button.

I no longer need to roll back, as I was able to circumvent the problem by pinning an extra, non-critical application to the top position.

Hello, I’ve been using Start11 since I installed Windows 11 in March 2025. I use a vertical taskbar and really like the Windows 10 full-screen menu.

What I find missing in Start11:

Support for Windows 10 Store apps with Live Tile functionality.

A comprehensive, full-screen settings menu without hidden text or options.

What I feel is wrong with Start11:

With the Windows 10-style Start menu, transparency doesn't work well; even with the Mica effect
enabled and transparency set to 11%, my desktop is barely visible. I use the Windows 11 dark theme. Because of this, I use a custom image with transparency enabled, which works correctly. However, this inconvenience bothers me. After installing the update for build 26200.9478 and disabling the enhanced taskbar, the native
Windows search option runs out of space on the taskbar and stops working. Clicking the button does
nothing; similarly, if I click the search bar inside the Start menu, the menu simply disappears
without allowing a search. I am currently using the search function within the Start11 menu instead.
