Compilation of Alt+Tab Window Grouping Requests

As the title suggests, there have been many requests on the forum for Alt+Tab grouping support. This is my last attempt to bring more attention to this feature.

I understand that there are technical limitations that make implementation difficult. However, it is clearly possible, since this functionality was available natively in Groupy 1.5, and in Groupy 2 it can still be achieved by following a series of configuration steps to make grouped windows appear together in alt-tab.

The following video demonstrates this behavior in Groupy 2:

Here is a list of users requesting this exact feature:

Even if there is a trade-off in terms of stability or performance for some applications due to technical limitations, the number of requests shows that many users are willing to make that trade. Hide the option behind multiple warnings, make it an advanced setting, or even require a registry edit. But for many workflows, this feature is simply too useful not to have.

We are currently looking into what options we can provide for this.

It may be the best route is to implement a custom alt-tab as it would offer more flexibility over everything which might be more useful for customers than something which works only with very specific settings and with significant draw backs.

So the best answer is watch this space.

Glad to hear you guys are thinking about this. I have tested some other alt tab menus apps like alt-tab terminator and some other auto hot key scripts that replace the stock interface, but they just feel slower and wost them windows default. Been using the 1.5 version on Windows 11 for years now, had very little issue with alt-tab, but would prefer to be on the 2.0 version.

Hope you guys come up with something nice, thanks for the update.
