windowblinds 4.2 + ati catalyst 4.3

Hi,

after installing the ati catalyst 4.3 omega drivers, windowblinds has stopped skinning menus on my computer. if anyone else is having this problem, is there a solution?

thanks

And what card? What I would suggest first is use Drive Cleaner (which you should always use) after uninstalling the drivers then reinstall and see if it persists.

it's a radeon 9500pro card. i did a "clean" install of the drivers...no dice.

no one else with the new cats have a problem with windowblinds 4.2?

WB stops menu skinning after you have had the shareware version of WB installed for 30 days.

i uninstalled the shareware LONG ago before i bought it. it's never given me any problems until just recently. and i find that, if i unload WB and then load it back up again, everything is fine...but obviously, i don't want to have to have to do that every time i boot up

Well the Catalyst 4.4s are out. I would suggest you install those (use Drive Cleaner) in which you can really determine if the problem lies with the Omegas. Have you tried rolling back to previous Omega drivers?

I'm not having any problems but then again I'm not using the Omegas...

tried using old omegas. even removed them completely, using the stock winxp radeon drivers..same thing. in fact, that kind of rules out the possiblity of a driver probelm

when my system boots up, everything is normal. menus skinned, then a few seconds later, it's like something else loads which suppresses skinning of the menus. also, this problem causes windowfx to load improperly too. however, at any time, the "Favorites" down menu in any window is fully skinned, while all others are not (i.e. looks like windows classic) i've tried disabling other things at startup in various combinations...nothing works.

i don't wanna reinstall windows over this, but i'm running outta things to try

It sounds like there is an app running which has installed a buggy hook.

I would look at what apps auto start via the startup menu or the registry RUN keys.

I use omega 4.3 (a derivitive of catalyst 4.3) and I notice no bad skinning.

there's nothing in my startup excet office and rainlendar. under msconfig, i noticed some shady things but have been unable to remove/permanently suppress certain apps from starting up. something called "System32:fhwnbdc" which seems rather suspiscious...

anyone know of a program that can remove startup items. the tweak utility included in iconpackager isn't doing an adequate job

Mike Lin's startup cpl is perfect. You can get it here:

I just did a clean install of the Catalyst 4.4 and I am now having trouble with menus as well as other gliches.

To be more specific, it seems that the glitches are with the tga's.

Stardock just posted a possible fix for the 4.4's on SDC. Say they might have broken other things, but I haven't seen anything weird yet.
