Creatures

  • Fixed spiders becoming invisible in tactical battles once they cast a spell

Language

NOTE: The following issue is not encountered by all new players, but we have seen it in certain language settings for a small subset of players with Early Access Files

  • Added a script to fix bad xml data that caused some users playing in a different language to freeze when starting a new game

    • To use the script, locate the Tools folder in your installed files on steam and select the convert_xml_to_utf8 script

      • Have python installed

      • Open a command line and change the directory to the location of the script

      • Type one of the following commands:

        • py convert_xml_to_utf8.py --data

        • py convert_xml_to_utf8.py --user

        • py convert_xml_to_utf8.py --path "C:\some\full\path"

      • Add --dry-run to preview changes without modifying files, and --verbose for detailed output per file. For example:
        python convert_xml_to_utf8.py --user --dry-run --verbose

UI

  • Fixed missing Hiergamenon images and removed marriage candidates from the Monsters section

AI Improvements

  • Fixed a crash when all AI quest choices have zero chance weight

  • Spellcasting

    • AI tactical spellcasting now properly validates spell targets

    • Made AI more likely to use summon spells

  • AI Champions now gather escort units when leaving cities

  • Units failing to join armies now return to the city instead of being stranded

  • AI auto-resolve now performs better against monster and minor-faction defenders

  • AI research gains now scale by difficulty

  • AI sovereigns now found their kingdom faster instead of wandering aimlessly

  • Added a fix for AI getting stuck on a quest location that was claimed by someone else

Campaign Fixes

  • Made enemies ignore unrecruited NPC champions to prevent softlocks

  • Made sure some Campaign companions do not permanently die causing softlocks

  • Prelude

    • Added new voice to “Prelude” Campaign

    • Fixed issue where you cannot complete the campaign due AI player city

    • Fixed quest objectives not disappearing

  • Fallen Enchantress

    • Fixed instance of crashing common in Chapter 9

    • Fixed game lock when winning certain battles in Chapter 5

    • Fixed issue where quest tooltip blocks clicking button to progress

    • Fixed issue where Sovereigns are seen standing in water in the corner of the map.

    • Fixed tooltip data on the Crystal Shield

    • Ensured Meergana interaction adds pupils

    • Ensured you must visit all 3 villages in Chapter 9 to continue

  • Legendary Heroes:

    • Fixed looping dialog path in Slavers quest

    • Fixed Abeix Rewards not being recieved if you have no city

    • Fixed auto-resolve exploit to kill Abeix easier

    • Ensured game defeat screens and healing between battles at the Forge of the Overlord sequence

Crash Fixes

  • Fixed multiple crashes related to interactions with Cartographer’s Table

  • Fixed Crash when running with certain types of mods

  • Added lots of small changes to prevent crashes

Gameplay

  • Added New Necromancy Spell Tree and Abilities

  • Fixed WASD camera movement to feel consistent in closer distances

  • Fixed issue where population is set to 0 after turn 2

  • Fixed issue where ship’s move slowly at certain camera distances

  • Dynasty adjustments:

    • Dynasty birth pacing adjusted to support larger families with softer fertility dropoff

    • Fixed certain Marriage Candidate blood traits

  • Ability changes:

    • Iron Guard now grants Pierce Defense per level instead of flat HP

    • Adjusted Abilities Costs:

      • Hopelessness - increased from 1 to 2

      • Horrific Wail - increased from 1 to 2

  • Updated crafting recipes:

    • Aspect of Fire

      • Removed 4 Refined Crystals requirement

      • Added 1 Clouded Ruby requirement

    • Aspect of Lightning

  • Content:

    • Added starter/lair content for Prowlers and Herglings, plus new Hergling monster unit data

    • Treasures, Locations and Lairs are now better sources of ingredients and give more loot

    • Capital cities now spawn 2 extra City Defender guardian units

    • Fixed Armor Prereq bugs regards to using

    • Fixed issue where Trinkets become invisible

    • Ensured the quest that takes you “Dungeon of Intrigue” gives you gold.

Mods

  • Fixed multiple bugs when uploading things to the steam workshop - most notably tags updating

  • Made sure that mod-dependent factions show up - ie when Sovereign Create Humans

  • Improved Mountain Generation Visual in the Cartographer’s table

Text and UI

  • Updated Localization files in all languages

  • Adjusted certain Governor unit display names from Role-based to Proper Surnames

  • Ruah backstory reformatted

  • Siege Weapons are renamed to Military Tactics

  • Resolved multiple typos in quests, abilities, and research

  • Fixed multiple icon issues

  • Added in all the required resource to be displayed in the Unit Design window

  • Fixed multiple instances where you get a black screen on load

Sound

  • Ensured all campaign/tutorial units use the same sounds as main game counterparts

  • Mounted units now play appropriate mount sound effects

    • Removed bad hardcoded sovereign name

    • Fixed loophole where you can kill your sovereign on a waypoint by avoiding dialog

    • Fixed Sentence Typos

    • Added Final Objective Popup

    • Fixed Unit Training Popup so it fits cleanly
