Fences 6 212 Error Activation Issues.

There have been some reports of clients receiving '212' activation errors when trying to upgrade from a prior version of Fences (seemingly from Fences 3 and 4, not Fences 5) to Fences 6.  We have created this thread to gather such reports and to keep you posted on our investigation of it.

I am experiencing the -212 error code. I have created the folder in Program Data and given the Users group Full Control (which is weird, I have other apps create folders in Program Data folder). I still receive the -212 error. I am upgrading from Fences 3.

Nevermind. I found my error.

I also ran into the Error = -212 problems. I tried the method from Solutions , https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1260552209/Error:+212+or+Product+Keeps+Prompting+to+Activate, and that also did not work.

So I accidently found a different way to bypass this problem. And without deleting anything.

Open Start menu, and right click on the program i.e. Fences.

Select more > Open File Locations

Right click on the program causing problems, and select Run as Administrator.

Solved.

Hello, dear team...
I just purchased the new tool (AltTabby)—the bug is still present. In the meantime, I've reproduced this on another system—one that was completely freshly installed.
There is a permissions issue within your installer. The activation process does not have permission to write to the C:\ProgramData\Stardock directory.
Reproduced on the following Windows 11 versions:
25H2, 26H1, 26H2

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Look like your issue does not related to this thread. Please create your own new thread in AltTabby area.

Thank you,

Hi Basj

Your initial assessment shows that you didn't read it correctly.
That's exactly what this is about—it's still regarding error -21 during a (apparently arbitrary) product activation.
So everything is correct. I was simply pointing out here that Stardock apparently isn't willing or able to address the problem and its cause.
Apparently, there’s only one kind of “fallback”—which is what I already described above.
