Sounds like either the video card is knackered or there's nothing on the hard drive

Unplug it from the wall and re-seat your memory.

See if you can bootup with a CD or disk, then check the hard drive

3......    2@128mb and one at 64mb

 

my suggestion is to download a bootable cd like knoppix, put it in the cd drive and see if it will boot.

you might have lost your hard drive or your monitor. try plugging in another monitor if you have one.

tried the monitor from this system..... no joy

OK, Bryan...take all out and insert one stick at a time and see if it will boot until we find the bad one.

can't see a reset button.....where would it be?

 

Should be a little 'door' on the back of the monitor....contains the fuse and sometimes a reset button. Also you can check the plug and make sure no pins were bent or broken off in all that moving.

BoXXi, same stuff hapend to me 2 days ago. My processor was broken...

no reset buttons....and no joy inserting ram sticks one at a time......any more suggestions......Please?

had exactly the same things you just named.
you said it was your spare pc right? you could try putting in the video card from your first pc into the second one. (I tried that too) didn't got anything so I kinda knew what was the problem. but I am no expert so try to check it out first.

Hmmmm.... don't fancy taking this puter apart..... it's fairly new....don't want to risk breaking this one as well!! I will try and borrow a video card from one of my buddy's and try that.....If it's the same with a new vid card in it, does that mean it's most likely the processor?.....anyway....have to go to work now guys, so I won't be around for a while.....If anyone has more ideas they will be welcomed. Thanks for helping out guys, I really do appreciate it.

Bryan....how long was it unplugged in transit?

Cmos is probably discharged if the system is old - battery old.

Does it give an audible post? If so, what beeps?

Next issue is loose components...ram being a good one to prevent things happening, as too does the vid card.

Reseat all of them.

Extreme temp and humidity fluctuations won't help either....potential for moisture, etc.

Recheck all cable connections....including possible Monitor pins bending.

Heck.....look for impact damage on the case....box could have been dropped and you now have a broken MB.....[not all that silly]...

Hmmmmm...something had to get jostled in moving. If it's not the memory then you need to look for any missing Mobo jumpers, battery, loose wires etc (you get the idea). Look very closely that the CPU heat sink is still attached correctly. If any of your PCI (or AGP) card(s) are loose that also would stop a boot. I don't think anything is broken, but that monitor not working on another puter concerns me, although that in itself doesn't really mean much. Play with it after work and let me know...

BTW: you're absolutely right about using stuff from the new computer to test this one. If it's a short in the one not working it could blow out anything you put in it....including any 'borrowed' stuff.

What do you mean by this? Did you just plug the monitor in and PS cable then fire it up? Or did you reconnect anything inside the case? No new hardware added? Usually, like yrag mentioned, the memory is the cause. Have you heard any BIOS beep codes? That would let you know if there is a hardware problem. Make sure the CPU and heatsink are seated proerly and reseat your video card; something may of came loose during the shift to your house. Take a look inside to make sure everything is in order, especially the mobo.

Oh, yes...as yrag said [and I forgot]...DON'T spread the potential for disaster by canabalising your 'good' comp to see if you can sort the old one.
